  1. How is your sister doing, Randy?
  2. There's my take-home quote of the day.
  3. Any recommended recordings of that Mahler?

    Zoom H2

Bummer. Those motherf*ckers. Yeah, I know. On the plus side, I may be able to get the charge to my credit card removed, which would be nice. I mean - bad enough that it got stolen, but now I have to pay the bill for something I no longer have?? Flip that.
  5. It's those pies, man.
  6. Yesterday, The Verdehr Trio. Interesting and very well-played program of mostly new music.

    Zoom H2

I think it would depend on what you want to use it for. The H2 was fine for what I needed, while it lasted. Of course, it was stolen from me not a week after I bought it, and I have yet to replace it.
  8. Well, do you want us to repeat all the things we like about Monday that we've already laid out in this very long thread? If you've read back through it, listened to more than this one remix track, and decided it's not for you, then that should be that. Not trying to be a jerk about it, just sayin'...
  9. Enjoy your day! Hope to see again this year.
  10. Last night: a double bill of the Rodney Whitaker/Carl Allen Project, and Diane Reeves. Gotta hand it to Ms. Reeves, she and her band (Geoffrey Keezer, Reginald Veal, Gregory Hutchinson) put on one hell of a great show.

    Wilbur Ware

Voila: http://maps.uchicago.edu/mainquad/reynolds.html I spent a couple of weeks exploring the area in and around that campus while my wife was in the UofC hospital for two weeks after surgery. There are some interesting old churches around there, too. The Columbine school shooting occurred during our stay. I could mention a few other things, but that's enough trivia. Back to Wilber Ware...
  12. And I guess we lost ben*diks somewhere along the line?
  13. I thought this thread was started just today (we got socked with a big snowstorm yesterday), until I read Jim's post and said "What?"
  14. Aw man. The stories you told us about those gigs were instant classics. His quotes will live on. "What song do you wanna hear? .... I ain't gonna play it." "I don't know why I let you talk me into this."
  15. I thought we mentioned Andrew Speight before; guess it was in a different thread. Aussie transplant now living in San Francisco. He was the director of the jazz dept. at MSU when Jim and I were there in the late '90's. Pretty ridiculous what he can do with the horn! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8LjTzLvxsw
  16. Randy - if I can help in any way, let me know. Very sorry to hear about this.
  17. Thanks! STFU, FFA!
  18. I spoke with Corey on the phone last night, and he did offer some suggestions (including the Mel Bay I mentioned). Also found a couple of Wes Montgomery charts on another website.
  19. I know there are two or three members active in music education. Just wondering what your sources are for ensemble charts. I started teaching guitar for the jazz program at MSU this term, and I've got three students. I figure for the studio class we could do a guitar ensemble (quartet with me sitting in), but I haven't been able to locate much material online beyond a couple of Mel Bay books that were recommended to me. I'll likely start with those but I'm looking for arrangements of maybe classic jazz tunes. Any leads will be appreciated!
  20. Heavy snow here today.
  21. The New Age scene around here just died when our local public radio station dropped both Hearts of Space AND Echoes.
  22. I bet those are nice.
  23. The other night I dreamed that someone showed me a schedule of D's concert dates, which showed one in Michigan. Just clicked through to his website, and indeed there is - April 14th in Ann Arbor. When I was 17 I had a dream about Johnny Winter opening a show with Hideaway and then when I was at a show a few weeks later, that's exactly what he opened with. There's no way I could have known! If only we could harness our powers of foresight for the more pressing issues!
