  1. grrrrr! tried to get ms. michihiru to jump out of a whoopie pie for you but this is all i could come up with.
  2. up i was looking for another beasty thread that discussed 'in sounds from way out'... question: did they do any other instrumentals aside from "song for junior" that are NOT on the 'in sound...' comp?
  3. searched for a beach boys thread but alas ...
  4. very sad indeed. may he rest in peace. thanks to the members who posted such touching remarks.
  5. I don't really think that Shipp doesn't know jack is a worthwhile rec imo but then again I've got a couple up for grabs in the "offering & looking for-um". 'Equilibrium' should be on your shelf tho.
  6. when you do start, .:. , make certain it's Irving Joseph's "Murder, Inc" ONLY at iTunes, drat! vibes to kill by.
  7. No. For some blasphemous reason I never saw the lastest episode that was done by Lynch. Believe it shows Killer Bob over taking Cooper, no?
  8. It will be good to revisit season two as I have little recollection of much at the end. Kinda got lost with all the various directors taking turns at it and then the whole chess game of putting it on on three different nights totally threw off the flow. I'm not sure, but was a final episode directed by Lynch and then only shown in Europe, or some such? And curious as to the reason that a regualr cut of the 'pilot' was never made readily available. As for season one, while recouping from some ailment a few years back, I watched some of my old VHS cassettes that were recorded off the tube during broadcast. Truly some of the best TV ever. Still taken by that scene when Leland decks the neice in the living room ... absolutely startling, still! Couldn't look behind the couch for quite a while.
  9. I'm sure if we went thru AMG long enough we could compile quite the Thom Jurek list. dang, no simile smiley?
  10. twas written in Entertainment Weekly last week that the set is due in spring of '07. for now you'll just have to settle for some "Signature Cup".
  11. Marc Ribot - "Saints" !? while Ribot is just friggin' great I think this is by no means needed in any top ten whatsoever. Altho one must have an album with animal balloons to be hip.
  12. no one laffed when i posted my "carbon fiber q-tip" back in the power cord thread. (hello, is this thing on?)
  13. i have only "The Bridge" and it being vinyl have not listened to it for a looong time. however, i do wonder what might have been had he stayed in the E Street Band with Mad Dog Lopez and kept their boss closer to them jazzier roots he had. when i watched the 'Making of BTR' on DVD Springsteen said something to the affect of how good his previous band really was and how their improvisational abilities really broadened his early interests. his playing on "The Wild ... " is just great.
  14. from what i've read it sounds as if you can supplant this view onto a thread about that new Lynch film coming. eager to see what that brings. that aronofsky "requiem for a dream" still bothers me.
  15. heh, thanks ... love that Hector too. rolls right into (tip o' the fedora) JSangry's Darondo: "Legs"! just sampled a few from the above Soul Fires and looks like another platter is in the mix. and here I was only gonna do emusic for a month.
  16. I recently settled up a playlist of mostly e-music grabs from the Ubiquity label along with a few from a disc called 'Vital Organs'. onehundrednineteenminutes&fifteensecondsofpuresalaappp!
  17. That's the one. "Apeshit" is an appropriate description! Dead on in your assessment of that set; this track makes it worth the cost of the set alone. I can still remember the first days after I got that set.... I kept playing that tune again and again, cranking up the volume! Me three! I'd even call folks up to my studio space here an make them sit for it. But I just really want to hear the next few minutes that rolled on despite the knob fade. Is it just me?
  18. after looking at the over-rated thread it seems I like that genre best. Sam Rivers - "Phewwsha Schwing Song" Sonny Clark - "Cool Struttin'" (complete) Horace Silver - "Finger Poppin'" Hank Mobley - "WorkOut" Jackie McLean - "Jackie's Bag" Sonny Clark - "My Conception" Art Blakey - "Mosaic" Bobby Hutcherson - "Happenings" Big John Patton - "Got A Good Thing Goin'" (and I'm taking that for the cover, too!) Monk - "Genius" complete TOCJ 66119-20
  19. very nice write up TMG ... thanks for taking the time. top of mind as just last weekend I made a sort of chronological mix of Jackson for a party hosted by a neighbor up the road who's nickname is "The Gator". he was nonplussed at best.
  20. I was looking at the ANTI records site and see that Billy Higgins is listed on drums in the "Bawlers" set? might one know of a discography for this set?
  21. They play out quite a bit up in Gloucester, usually solo. The acoustics from the band shell are otherworldly.
