  1. your welcome, but thanks to andybleaden ... just wanted to bring this great info into a titled thread. (i was perusing old searches and found this one as JSngry was trumping this disc in the "hard hitting soul" thread.) just got this for cheap and really enjoying it ... not something i would have normally sprung for. crazy stuff with the sfx and whistles (i had some monkey hips going on behind the drawing board when i first cued it) - a one of a kind album. makes me wonder if any Lytle was caught live.
  2. courtesy of andybleaden : http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...mp;#entry605149 Again I have to concur with both of your comments. Picked this up recently as a complete stranger to his music until I realized he had worked with Grant Green on Visions etc. Really corking tunes on this and the other LP of his which was ...er, um, erm...oh yes Out of this World i think. Both pretty rare vinyl wise that go for silly money on ebay but well worth a listen to ...btw here is some info via an interview with Billy Wooten . I was thinking of starting a separate thread just on his music courtesy of http://www.stonesthrow.com/funky16/wooten-interview.html Fascinating and different insight
  3. now this is cool! deer rescue video
  4. why should you run away from a blond who throws a pin at you? she might have a hand-grenade in her mouth.
  5. Just listening in to a newly arrived platter ... better have Monday save some room in the week for ...
  6. oh, so that wasn't David Sedaris.
  7. Thanks Jim! Could this quite possibly be one of Hilton Ruiz's last recorded efforts? He was responsible for introing me to some guy named Sam Rivers on that "Something Grand" album that really truly was. I also thought his and Palmieri's work on the "Nuyorican Soul" disc was somethin' else. edit to add:myspace (and whaddahek is "thanks for the add"?, i always just blamed society at large)
  8. Friggin' left wing geek device it is....
  9. Whaadahellwazzat! Sheesh! I was all excited for about two minutes. I'll blame it all on the lay off. Them Ohio boys usually have a tendency of getting slovenly over the holidays. Gators did look great and just put it to em. Woody's hands would have hurt from slapping his guys upside their heads most of the game.
  10. no, he went to HS in Canton, Ohio.
  11. as for schools, i just wanted to add that Marylin Manson and I went to the same high school. really!
  12. i just read that dita is touring with yanni.
  13. I picked up "Back to Basics" as a Christmas request from my daughter. I had only heard snips of her previously - never paid too much attention - and had that "over-singing" as my opinion as well but having this two disc set along for a twelve hour car ride all's I can give it is a big thumbs up. Compared to the rest of the crap that I try not to listen to when subjected to "tween radio" etc I must say that the whole package here is extremely appealing.
  14. not sure this will hold true but i went ahead and clicked thru my account to cancel my subscription and received a pop up window advertising $5.99 for all cds if I "please" stay. clicked back and then to the home page and the discs come up @ $5.99 ... put one in the cart for grins and yes still $5.99! if this works everyone owes me a buck!
