Sometimes I notice windex leaves a film, so I usually use some liquid hand some, like Brownian, in lukewarm water....and the softest paper towels in the world to wipe off, or compressed air....

You know what seems funny??? Utley hits two homers off a leftie, and they keep tossing lefties at him. It worked, but it's just funny. What if he hit yet another homer off a lefty??? Would they still not bring Joba in to face him, or Howard??? I feel better, at least not a sweep, and it has the making of a real series!

TAKE THAT YANKEE BITCHES, TAKE THAT!!!! Errr, umm...I mean...good game! :blush2: Ghost is such a nice Yankee fan, hard to get too uppity. I do worry about Lidge though....Yankees are patient, his fastball just isn't good enough to blow by guys if they lay off the slider.

Any suggestions on what to do about a problem with a DVD
BERIGAN replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Well, everyone is dying for an update, right??? I limped along with the recorder , having to put it in 10-12 times before it would accept the disc(A google search on this JVC model showed this is a fairly common issue with them) but it finally stopped working, and so I took it to a repair shop....he had it for a few weeks, and said the board was shot. I said, well just wanted to see if it could be fixed cheaply, I'll take it to the store I bought it from. When I told him it was H.H. Gregg, he said, good luck, but they likely wouldn't fix it! He said I guy he knew dropped off a big screen tv, and 4 months later, he still didn't have it back! With those words of encouragement , I dropped the Recorder off July 13th. I got some paperwork back...never heard from them. Contacted them at about the 2 month point. Gee Sir, still shows its off for repairs....Gee Ma'am , any way to find out what might be holding up repairing it??? A Manager type then walked up and told her to tell someone else to contact the center ( I still have to imagine they outsource repairs anyway) She would contract me in 24 hours. I said thanks, and about a week later I got a call from...someone. When I played back the message, it appeared she couldn't say her own name ..... and said if I called back, I could get a number to call to find out what was up with my unit. Seems like it would be easier for her to call her own company, but oh well.... Thought I would go back in to the store to find out who might have called me. No one there knew, nothing had been updated when they brought up my DVD recorder. At that point I nicely asked for the District or Regional manager's phone number(Had enough people thru the years ask for that at Borders to know that's how the squeaky wheel gets greased. Well, I guess their District or Regional manager's don't like to be bothered by customers, so I got their generic 1-800 number instead. That was a week ago...didn't get around to calling, and now this A.M. the other DVD recorder has stopped Playing or recording! This is just classic! One recorder in the shop after 3 1/2 months, and now the other one is down! Can't wait to be without it til February or March! Remember everyone, extended warranties are really swell, you should always get them...... and H.H. Gregg is a super special retailer that you should buy all your electronics from! They are going to be around for many, many more years!!!!! -
I was SURE the Yankees were going to at the very least tie it up, then win it in extras, again. Amazing game!

Digression thread: Coherence is overrated

Just to be clear, I do believe Allen has had sex with extra-terrestrial animals, but being a Democrat, he blames Bush...and the cute little outfits they wear inside. -
Good grief! How far away was that right field fence??? 280 feet?? Bet there never was a homer to straight-away center! JH, and the other Phillies fans, congrats! That is one solid team! I always felt there were only 7 hitters in that lineup, but if Ruiz keeps hitting in the playoffs, plus someone like Ben Francisco is DH'ing, that's going to be one amazing lineup! Phils in 6..nope, 7...it's going to be epic...I hope!

Holy crap Batman, 3 umps out with concussions! I hadn't really thought of that but there'd be ample opportunity to have the ole noggin' clobbered during the season. It might be safer being an NFL QB than a MLB ump. (Okay, probably not, but then umps are often older.) Aside from the Swisher calls it does seem like it's standard procedure to blow a following call to make up for the earlier screw up. Doesn't work well in the 9th inning though... There was one ump that I saw just forever get hit by foul balls and past balls this past season...no doubt one of the guys out.

This is an interesting article explaining in part, the terrible umpiring....but it doesn't explain it all. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/i...ing-on-injuries

ok...after thinking I had found it, I did find this info Weizy....in case you didn't know this... One of Penguin's bestselling non-fiction authors, Niall Ferguson has been hailed as the most brilliant historian of his generation for his fresh, provocative and controversial approach to subjects ranging from money to empires. 1914: Why the World Went to War has been specially adapted from Ferguson's bestselling The Pity of War (1998). It is a radical reassessment of how the world hurtled into catastrophe in 1914. http://www.mcleodsbooks.co.nz/books/1914_W...0141022205.html -

Never thought of that before! Makes perfect sense. So, that means folks like Bard are throwing 107 when it leaves their fingertips??? Or does the radar gun catch it out of their hands??? (I Missed the first 6 innings of the game)

Cano??? How about the bobbled double play ball by Jeter??? He was really lucky too. Glad the game didn't get decided by that Ump not calling the in the vicinity play at 2nd.... It was a very good game that went on too long. Even the fans got quiet after awhile...just worn out I guess...I think that the length of the game plus went grass didn't help the fielders much either....
