  1. I'm not having any problems with it.
  2. Yeah, I was watching the other night and felt pretty much the same as Jim. Then I fell asleep.
  3. Just heard this. Sad news. I worked with him many times over the years. Nice cat.
  4. Sometimes this place amazes me! Exactly WHAT is there not to like about Jimmy Garrison's playing? If you're lukewarm on Jimmy G. you're lukewarm on the instrument itself and don't understand the function of the instrument.
  5. I've got it on order - waiting for it to arrive. Haven't heard anything. Think the mastering was done on a computer? At home? Seems that more and more people are doing it like that.
  6. Not sure if he ever had a website, Dennis Sandole?

    Grady Tate

Just to mention that when Grady recorded an album for Skye as a vocalist the drummer was .....Purdie!
  8. imho the neighborhood has been gone for some time. Manny's was done once Sam Ash took over and Henry was gone. The Colony was at a smaller location with a fraction of what it once had (not to even mention the sheet music.)
  9. I'm hoping they get around to the New Orleans Rhythm Kings.
  10. Just went for the $25.00 plan. Nice to have this stuff backed up off premises.
  11. I'm not sure how it happened to my computer. My Roxio program stopped working and as part of trying to get that to work I decided to reinstall firefox. I went to the first download on google thinking it was the official site. I was in a rush (you can't be in a rush doing this sh-t)but the site was taking too long to download and I stopped the download and realized I wasn't on the official mozilla sight. I went to the right site and downloaded normally. And the toolbar was there. I think these things are legal. During the period I was reinstalling my programs I noticed that many of the earliest ones listed were 2nd parties. Almost goofed again but caught it. One site said they would install a toolbar but had no box to decline it! This stuff is going to be happening a lot. Just be sure if you're downloading to decline any tool bars and stay away from second parties offering the download. I put on a firefox extension called Web of Trust that marks safe sites on the search result. Seems to work pretty well.
  12. I wish but no Pete. You have to back up your files and reinstall programs. For me that wasn't bad. I keep an external hard drive with everything important backed up on it. But the reformat itself was 3 clicks and come back in an hour. I spoke to a techie. He suggested the reformat and told me that it's actually good to reformat every so often. Keeps everything working better. What seems to be happening now is when you do a search for a download make sure you download from the source - not an intermediary. Rosco - Thanks for the link.
  13. I just reformatted my pc (luckilly not that hard in windows 7)to get rid of the "Babylon Toolbar" and some attendant search that took over my home page. Is there an easier way?
  14. I agree with Lon and Allen. There are plenty of interesting musical observations. Mezz's exaggerations are mainly concerning himself. When he is speaking of music he is interesting and informative. I still have the old Signet paperback edition but the pages are falling out. I recently bought a new hard cover copy at Barnes and Noble. I think it is their own printing and I found it in the same area where low priced hardcover copies of classics are kept.
  15. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LON! All The Best!
  16. Very sad news. Bob was a great player. RIP.
  17. Sugar Pie DeSanto Santo Pecora Cutty Cutshall Marky Markowitz Buzzy Drootin
  18. Did I miss it? This thread actually went this long with nobody mentioning.......................HOT LIPS PAGE !
  19. As usual with things like lottery or gambling in general - the thing to remember is that if there is not a legal version there will be an illegal version right around the corner and readily available. This is also the case with prostitution, drugs, etc in addition to gambling.
  20. Nice interview w. Russell malone. Thanks freelancer.
  21. Tenor sax man Babe Clarke worked with her sometime in the mid 70's at (I think) the Copa. He told me she was great to work with and he was impressed with her singing. I always enjoyed her records. I thought the material was good and they were well performed and well produced. RIP Donna. I was sorry to hear of your passing.
