  1. Can't help but wonder...even though I don't really care: Wynton? He's certainly built something of an empire, or at least name recognition. That Burns TV series and JALC...
  2. I made a lot of money on my tenor...when I sold it to buy ramen. I assume Benny Goodman did pretty well. And the studio guys shoulda done well.
  3. And then there is staying out of trouble with the tax man...
  4. My nominee for worst beverage ever:
  5. "Amen" to all of the above, especially the "I Love You" part.
  6. Happy Birthday, Happy Veterans' Day and a belated Happy Marine Corps birthday!
  7. (Reading this on my mobile. Sorry if I missed this upstream.) Another name is Rudi Mahall. Duet album on Enja with Aki Takase in particular. Mahall's playing differs by "setting", but some Dolphy-esque. http://www.jazzrecords.com/enja/9109.htm
  8. All the best, Conn!
  9. Happy Birthday, belated, but sincere. I hope it was a great one!
  10. Paul, I hope it's a great, great birthday!
  11. Good move. Never drink yellow wine.
  12. Here's hoping '13 is another good year. All the best!
  13. Bump. Last call on cassettes.
  14. Signs that the vinyl fad is playing out. Link Not to mention my other "favorite" fad: headphones.
  15. Am I likely to see this one at any retailer as a CD? I'm still looking for the previous CD. Haven't seen one new, and - no surprise - no one seems to be selling any into the used market.
  16. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. (Excuse the shouting. Trying to ensure I'm heard, wherever catesta is now.)
  17. The cassettes are offered "shipped" only. I'm not in a position to deliver or arrange a pick-up. I mention California only so that people overseas will know that shipping is expensive. (Board regulars know that I'm seldom in any place for more than a week or two.)
  18. For me, listening with eyes closed is more about concentration than sensory focus. In this way, it can improve my overall listening experience. For some music, the experience is improved by firmly planting one fingertip in each easr.
  19. I've got a bunch of stuff in storage and I'm losing my ability to use that space. (It's in California.) Among the things that's got to go is a big box of cassettes. Rough contents: - 128 Cassettes that I recorded off LPs. Some good quality music (mainstream jazz and a smattering of rock) and some less good. Many quality cassettes, some mediocre or junk. Obviously, all are erasable and reusable. - Ten or so pre-recorded cassettes - Ronald Shannon Jackson, Rahsaan, Sonny Rollins Yours for a million dollars. Only kidding. If anyone among the Organissimo board "regulars" wants 'em, they're yours for the cost to ship. It's about one "standard size" big box, like they use to deliver reams of office printer paper. Just hate to toss them without asking. ------------------------------------------------------- I've also got a bunch of stage band scores. Some complete. Many not. The usual stuff - Neal Hefti and all the charts you played in high school. I'll be honest, it's probably more than half "limited value". Same deal: Pay shipping and they're yours. More than a box in total, but I could probably weed out some obviously unusable stuff. ------------------------------------------------------- Again, everything would ship from California. Trust me. If you're in Ouagagdougou, Burkina Faso, it isn't worth the cost to ship.
  20. I hope your birthday is a great one, Daniel!
  21. At the Iridium. Wish I could be there.
  22. Matthew, I hope it's a great one!
  23. I hope it's a great one!
