  1. Man, Tim. Being the kid of a parent who had to deal with that, your post strikes me hard. It sucks, that's all I can say. I wish you strength. My problems? They are not important.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8QBB0Eh5ZQ You've got a friend! Thought this was a nice change from the 'Cecil' story. Kind regards, page
  3. Happy Birthday, kinuta!
  4. A belated Happy Birthday!
  5. Ah, ok Buddha. I thought since you hadn't posted it at AAJ you couldn't get in. Yes,I know about the second issue. Thanks again.
  6. Buddha said: "I got the email from AAJ last week. Someone asked about the IP address. The one I received, the IP address was 89.105.194.87. IP Address Locator website provides the following information" Hi Buddha, sorry the quote won't work properly. Thanks. So, you can't get in at the moment?
  7. About a strong password, you should always make sure you have one and change it regularly. Also on this forums of course A strong password has a minimum of 7 digits; make sure to include a random capital (i.e. not in the first position), a numeric and a top line character (! " £ $ % ^ & * ( ) etc.) When you got e-mail or an request to give your password or any other personal info it won't be from the forums, so do not give that info since it is a phishing attempt to take over your account. When you still can get in, you can post the IP address on this thread: http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/showthread.php?59878-Computer-Security If you can't and you still want to help you can post it on this thread or send me a PM and I'll pass the info on. I think it would be a good idea for organissimo to barr those IP addresses too. Thanks for your help. kind regards, page
  8. Ah, I didn't know that your daughter was there, Chuck. I have organized a women social group. She's welcome to join in. There are very little female members, same as here. Carla didn't remember registering for the group. That's why she mentioned it to me. I was banished years ago. You won't have to register for the social group. It is for the female members present. When she can't remember registering for the AAJ forums, that seems odd. I'll pass on that information. I'm sorry to hear you got banned. I've always hated these things. I did 'meet' again some friends here who've had that experience. Rules are very strickt, there are negative and possitive sides to that. There are some people I still miss from years back, not that they all got banned but some just choose to go. That's a pity.
  9. Yes, this has been happening for a bit more than a month. If you guys still have that e-mail, can you please pass on the IP address mentioned or, when you'd prefer, post it here? It is a tough task barring all of those with the little volunteers present. I'll pass it on. Thanks. You won't have to do anything when you get such an e-mail, just make sure your password is a strong one so they (the Spammers) won't get in. Ah, I didn't know that your daughter was there, Chuck. I have organized a women social group. She's welcome to join in. There are very little female members, same as here.
  10. I have Windows 7. My music software like Band in a box and Sibelius work differently from when I had XP. They both still work but there are some compatibility issues with opening etc. Other software won't work at all with Windows 7. For me the Sibelius is the most important. I've been saving all my files in 4 formats, sib, xml, midi and tif, to make sure I won't loose things completely when one of these days my pc will break down. It is from 2009. I know Finale is much cheaper than Sibelius but I'm so content with Sibelius I'd rather not switch and besides because of the differences I would need to write everything down all over again. That probably will happen some day of course but I want to postpone that moment for as long as I can. Other software that wouldn't work anymore were things like my Canon software for my camera, Nero and some others I can't come up with now. So with another upgrade to Windows 10 I'm expecting more problems. I'm thinking about the possibility Jim mentions, that would be a solution for me too. Just need to find someone who can do that for me.
  11. Ah, thanks Jim. I probably won't install it anyway, since I'm almost certain things will not work for me and I'll hate the Cortana. My nightmare would be I wouldn't be able to access my musicfiles and since it was already a hassle with the Windows I've got now. I'm not getting into the new any time soon. However when/if your computer breaks down, you'll have to since any new one won't offer the old windows, right?
  12. So if you install this, you can't go back to your 'old' Windows version right? I ask this since I'm afraid my (music) software won't work with the Windows 10.
  13. Happy bithday, Shawn!
  14. That looks like it was great fun. I'd love to go there some time myself. You have a lovely wife, Larry! That first picture is so nice, it makes me smile all the way.
  15. Happy Birthday, kanjer! Enjoy a lovely day. liefs, page
  16. Thanks again, Thom. Your BFT has been great fun and brought some wonderful new music to my attention. Kind regards, page
  17. Yeah, I've wondered about that myself. I can read music, but I do not sight sing really although I can hold on to intervals I see since you can train that. I do not have the absolute pitch and need to hear a chord to hold on to (or note) to start. I learn everything by ear myself. So when you can read music, that doesn't mean that is the way you choose to approach the way you work at it I think.
  18. A belated Happy Birthday!
  19. That's a nice thing to do!
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. The photo does tell a story indeed and you did say what you thought about BC before. Ok, fair enough. Never mind. Thanks for responding.
  22. I think you should comment, Cyril. We're just with a few women here on this forum. I'd like to know what you thought when you saw that cover. Maybe you feel it is beyond any comment and obvious and it probably is, but I think that we as women especially should comment. I still shiver seeing it, it hurts me really. Well, I hope you will anyway.
  23. Oh migh! So this is the cover of a magazine, or a newspaper? I feel quite 'mixed' seeing that. The empty chair is quite a heavy statement too. Those women are brave. It is a big deal taking that chair.
  24. Damn me, I should have got Buddy Tate! That's mid fifties, I think. Never heard any of Tate from that period. In fact, I think he only did two sessions between about 1950 and '58. This really shows he shouldn't have been left out in the cold. MG It definitely is one that did make me smile from the first listening run on. It's so nice to learn about these! I can't believe I didn't recognize "On Green Dolphin Street" and then that "Mission Impossible"- theme, it does sound a bit like the one from "The Saint" in atmosphere I think.
  25. Hi Thom, Some tunes seem to have two numbers, but I'm naming them in order of the list. This is how they appeared for me. Here are more my thoughts, not so much as solutions: 01. 6:24 She got it – album: Buddy Tate and his Celebrity Club Orchestra (composer: Arnett Cobb en Buddy Tate) Nice song. Personnel: bass –John Williams; drums – Billy Stewart; piano – Skip Hall; tenor sax – Buddy Tate; trombone – Dickie Wells; trumpet – Dud Bascomb; 02. This has some “The Saint” like intro, if you know what I mean. Nice theme. It doesn’t sound familiar. Steady rhythm section. 03. This doesn’t sound familiar either. Nice theme by the sax player. Not all is my thing I must say. I do like the bass part. 04. A bit ‘Take 5’ like intro, or at least it reminds me of it. Sounds like a tune that could be used in a movie. It gets a bit chaotic at some point. 05. Lovely beginning. Nice theme, sounds familiar but I can’t come up with a title. I really like this one. Nice rhythm, invites to dance. I can imagine dancing a samba on this one. Yes, lovely song. 06. Seems like a “canon”; not sure whether that is the correct word in English but I can’t seem to find a translation of it. A bit chaotic at some point. Sounds a bit like “Papa was a rolling stone” at some point. I like the building up and then getting back to really small. Curious who this could be. 07. I have no idea. Could also be film music. It has something “futuristic”. 08. Reminds me a bit of a song of Abdullah Ibrahim, not sure it is him. I don’t know the song. 09. Oo! Let’s Cha Cha! Nice! Sounds like a Latin blues or at least a 20 bar blues at Latin rhythm which is a nice touch. A touch of “Santana” it seems. I have no clue. Another one that would get my feet up there (meaning dance floor). At sessions they've called me the Latin singer, so I have a bit of a thing for these rhythms. I do like swing as well. 10. Nice. I think I know the theme, but I can’t come up with a title right now. 11. Good song for practicing your long notes. I have no clue. I really like it though. 12. Nice bass intro. Another Latin song. 13. jazz waltz. I love those. Beautiful flute theme. 14. Not really my thing I must say. I find it a bit too ‘hasty’ playing. I sounds a bit chaotic because of that. 15. personnel: John (what’s his name?!) Lol. No, I have no clue, but he is called out. I hear part of a children’s song I know. In our language it is called “Green is grass”, but that probably is not the correct title in English. Another jazz waltz, but not as nice as the other one. At least I don’t like it as much as that one. It starts nice, but I don’t like the sax solo that much. Thank you for nice BFT, Thom,. There are quite a few songs I really like and they all sound new to me, so I’m curious to find out about the musicians. I think no. 5 is my favourite. Kind regards, page
