  1. Shirt and jeans are for all ages I think, nothing wrong with that. I actually was wearing shirt and jeans myself today, so not just for all ages but also for all sexes.
  2. The Pointer Sisters? Wow, I'd love to hear that rendition! I'm curious.
  3. Hi Thom, I have and still really appreciate what you have done for us all this time, it had nothing to do with that. HP replied to me and now I feel I was making a fuss. It had to do with rights of musicians and I still have mixed feelings about it. I was just plain honest and told how I feel about it. I'd prefer to not discuss it on a thread. I'm happy to hear you make a point of telling people/musicians, I had planned that myself. Since you are a musician yourself, I know you will understand my hesistance regarding this subject.
  4. I'm a fan of Johnny Cash. Went to see a coverband, but they weren't really living up to my expectations. Saw a great coverband some years ago at a memorial day. Are there more people still into his music around here I wonder. What's your favourite song, memory maybe? I'd love to know. Share you thoughts! Kind regards, page
  5. Ha! Didn't know this thread existed. Fun! Mine is kind of diverse. I like casual as well as dressing up depending on the occasion. Lots of jeans, but also lots of dresses. I'd generally prefer skirts and dresses instead of shorts in summer. During performances usually a dress. Soft spot for leather clothing, so far jackets, skirts and a dress, no pants yet until I'll find the perfect one. Maybe this belongs in a Confession thread, but I haven't found one yet. Maybe I can get some directions, since I miss a thread like that? Thanks.
  6. Dick Reynolds, I think. Although I'm not completely sure but it was his orchestra. It's not noted on the arrangement which is still in my possesion. The arrangement was transcribed by Jon Harpin. Cootie Chesterfield is registered as trumpet player for Peggy's rendition. I didn't know his real name was Pete Candoli. Thanks, Larry, those are nice facts to learn.
  7. German and Dutch are very much alike, lots of similar words. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. Where are you moving to, if I may ask?
  8. Never mind, forget it. I don't want to make a fuss, I understand that is not wanted. I was just being honest.
  9. Julie London's has a beautiful arrangement. I have sung it with a big band and I've used Peggy's rendition with a combo as well as with a sole pianist. Both renditions are really nice and it is still one of my favourite songs.
  10. Ah of course. Why didn't I think of that? Thanks Scott. My cat sleeps almost the entire day, but then she is 18 and seems to need more sleep nowadays. I remember her short naps. I look at her with envy sometimes We call them "dutjes" in Dutch. (phonetic that would be: ˈdʏcə) I still find that a funny word.
  11. They are quite good indeed. More violent than most British series, although "Happy Valley" has shown a lot in the first series. I've enjoyed "Wallander" to name a nice Skandinavian series f.e. I have enjoyed the first episode of "Happy Valley II" too thanks to you guys. I think we are in for a real scare again these series. Brr.
  12. I've never been able to have naps. Why they are called "cat naps" if I may ask? Just a week ago there was an item on tv about Melatonin being the only really effective remedy that one could get without prescriptiion around here. Sorry to hear about people's problems with insomnia and sleep apnea, awful! My problem is partly mental partly physical. Stress is the main problem, I haven't been able to get to sleep easily for about 15 years, sometimes not sleeping for the entire night, or more than one night in a row. Lying awake I started thinking too much, worrying etc which obviously causes more stress. The warm milk thing doesn't work for me, never has.
  13. Looks nice! Funny that the exhibit in Chicago is about bedrooms. Just got a mail today of the Van Gogh museum itself, there will be an exhibit about prostitution in French art according Van Gogh called "Lichte zeden" (translated as "Easy virtue") starting next week. http://www.vangoghmuseum.nl/en/whats-on/exhibitions/easy-virtue
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. Yes, very sad. I'll always remember the music. I had so much fun when I was one of the singers of a EWF cover band. It made me cheerful every time. I have danced quite a lot to this music. Memories I'll cherish. Thank you for the wonderful music, Maurice. R.I.P.
  16. Happy Birthday, Thom!
  17. Thank you for this one, Duane. I feel exactly the same as you regarding her music. I'm a fan too. She feels real to me, true. That is the most important for me.
  18. ... you just roll over and you turn out the light...
  19. Thanks, I'll remember that one. It was a series regarding a train accident where she played someone who was at the train and helped the police in the investigation. I still can't recall and don't think I saw the entire thing. I'm following too. I was intruiged the first episode, by episode 3 I felt horrified. Have seen 4 episodes so far, awful, awful, awful it makes me feel. Good series make you shiver, don't they?! Saw the final episode of "Okkupert" ( Occupied) this past weekend. A political drama/thriller which was great. It takes place in Norway. I recommend it highly. Before that "Odyssey", also known as "American Odyssey". I guess that is a political drama/thriler series as well.
  20. Finally able to see the first series of "Luther", have followed series 2 and 3. So watching series 1 and 4 at the same time which I'd preferably not have done, but... well am curious about series 4 and Alice there. While the Luther series is extremely violent, which I don't really like, I really like Idris Elba in his role. So I try to watch it not too late to make sure I don't dream about it, lol. I've skipped some Norvegian series for that reason. Also watching Doctor Foster series 1 which one of you did mention before. Nice series indeed. Suranne Jones is really good again in these series. "Scott and Bailey" is still one of my favourite series and I did see her on another series at the BBC which I can't recall the name of right now. Last but not least, "London Spy", Just have seen a few episodes yet, but it is intriguing. I'm curious how this will develop.
  21. A belated Happy Birthday!
  22. Happy Birthday, Tom!
  23. Cool! I have a few friends who used to have business cards, don't know whether they still use them.
  24. He sort of belongs with my growing up and discovering music. I've sung a few of his songs when I was in this pop-rock choir. "Heroes" was among those. Some really good songs which still remember me of events and times I treasure. I liked that he was so different and just went his own way. R.I.P. David and thank you for broadening my mind in music!
  25. No need for apologies, Tim. You've made your point clear to me, thanks.
