Even when you're acting stupid and should know better, rape isn't justified. It never is.

Happy Birhtday, Tom! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxo2bEX45KI Just imagine me singing a happy melody on top of that.

Thanks uli, for your link. I'm afraid I've missed it since the NTR already claimed the copyrights and the link isn't working anymore unfortunately. You're welcome Niels. Still working on getting links ready. Unfortunately not all artists give permission to show the recorded concerts online. So not every name of the festival will be on this thread. I've corrected a few days. Apparently some dates were from the time they were posted instead of the date of the concert itself. I'll try to correct all myself but incase someone sees a wrong date before I do, please tell me and I'll correct it.

I'll be out of touch for about three weeks

Have fun! Maybe snuff out some curiosity after you'll get back before us cats will ... ? -
Great, how did you know I love that song? Only 36 today but it isn't lunch time yet. I wimped out of my usual 10k morning walk today, even in the shadows it's like a sauna. Just a lucky guess to send a little breeze.. I really like it too.

I hear people get a pop up message. That is about accepting cookies, nothing else. Sorry about that.

So far I haven't found videos for Randy. Didn't have time to check the compilations yet. There might still be videos posted later on. I also will post the links to the audio files that will come available. It's getting late here in the windmill area so I'll continue with it tomorrow. Goodnight. Kind regards, page

Hi Tom, I haven't seen it yet. Artists will have to give permission and not every concert is available because of that. I'll check for you. We don't know, you're right. I still hope it is not true. Like I've said the first time, he's innocent until proven guilty. I do hope he's innocent. As a voluntary writer for Amnesty International I run into a lot of stories about assault towards women. Egypt and India are countries where it is particularly bad in this area. Awful things happen there. It does happen closer to home too and usually nothing to do with use of drugs. It is something that has my concern, not just because I'm a woman myself, but it is an act of violence, of abuse of power. I just try to do something about that by discussing it, pointing attention to it like I've wanted to do on this thread.

Scott said: "As for whether it would have been ok with consent, well, it would kind of have to be. Or else we fall down a rabbit hole where ALL consensual sex becomes potential fodder for criminal and civil cases. " I do agree that it would have to be. I was merely speaking about people from inequal position, one being intimidated by the other because of that and therefore having trouble to refuse directly. Clifford said: "Maybe you didn't catch my wording, but the point was is that we all know women who've experienced assault and it may even be someone we know closely. Not everyone feels comfortable sharing the details, so it's more rampant than you'd like to believe." Absolutely! I agree with your comments, Jim. There is still difference between the position of men and women about what is accepted and interpreted as okay in behaviour such as the example you are mentioning. On a lighter note: as for admiring someone for his accomplishment, yes, definitely! There once was this thread at AAJ about "who you want to spend an evening with" or something and I replied 'Robin Williams'. I figured he would be fun to be with since he would definitely make me laugh and would be interesting to talk to. I didn't mind the fact that he was attractive. Unfortunately he's no longer with us, so I won't have that pleasure.

My point was just one woman's point of view. I feel the need to speak up for women/girls here since sexual intimidation is in every line of work/place/ and therefore into society and so it does happen more often than you think. I don't know whether all of these women were involved professionally with him, but my point was to question whether 'with consent' has been really that. I do wonder about that. Would it be okay when it had been 'with consent'? Of course when you are slipped a drug without there is no question. However, like Larry said, this major crucial role he had. One does not have to be someone's boss, but he's a major figure in the business and has influence, so that can be intimidating. Scott, I wasn't saying all women have experience with that, I sure as hell hope not any of your wives, girlfriends or female friends did have. Of course men can be intimidated too. I'm not attacking men in general here. Being famous does attract people too, people who want something from you. You can be falsely accused. Each case needs to be looked at individually. One time a male colleague of mine was accused by a girl. We were teaching at a primary school. My colleague never laid a finger on her and she confessed later she had made the story up. From that time we agreed never to be alone past schoolhours with a student in a class with a closed door. IAll classes had doors made of glass, so you could just look through. Teaching gymnastics we were not allowed to walk into the shower room of the children of the opposite sex to get the students to hurry up. Mine were age 6/7 that year. They always stalled since they didn't want to go back into class to study afterwards. Going to swimclass with them I had to help some students dress and I couldn't always get a father of one of the children to accompany me to help with the boys.

Now whether it is with or without consent, the fact is someone can feel intimidated f.e. when it is someone who is your boss, or has some other major role above your own which you depend on, it can be hard to not get up into something you'd rather not end up in. I think there was a model who told she was very young and felt that way. I think that sort of thing needs to be considered too. Of course in case of without consent, there is no question that it is wrong, but with consent, one have to consider what the relation was between the two. Not that I mean to say all women are helpless and wouldn't dare to refuse, but when you are really young, that isn't all that easy. In my country there is a court case going on about a girl of 16 that got exploited by a lover boy. I don't know who all these women are mixed up in this case, but I remember at least one on the news that said she never dared to tell anyone after it happened and felt intimidated. Telling something like that happened to you is really not something you want to share with anyone. So it doesn't surprise me women are coming forward after so many years.

Hi Niko, no I'm afraid I haven't. Ah yes, I remember I was so sick in Erfurt since I don't travel well on busses. It must have changed very much, I can't imagine how much. I've seen the sight of Berlin in a few movies and that showed me already it has. I plan to go again, at least to Berlin, I always have wanted to do the trip again, but never got to it so far. After 26 years, yes. I felt quite emotional when the wall was taken down. Being young of course that trip made a huge impression on me and I'll never forget it, but I'm sure as an adult it would have too. Just the situation there, and the tension you could feel. I remember I did very well on the paper we had to write in German class with the subject and since I already had a great interest for politics, human rights and history, this trip made me go deeper into those after that. Can I ask which part of Germany you are from?

Yes, I understand, that happens to me too occasionally. Loosing my parents at relatively young age I sometimes have that "what if" feeling since they weren't there on some important events in my life, and still even now I sometimes just wish I still could talk to them. On the other hand it changed me for the better since I got to be more open to people, while being rather timid and 'waiting on the fence' before. I tell how I feel and became a bit more direct. Still haven't lost every bit of reserve, but I began to realize life is too short to not tell people what they mean to me when I feel I want them to know.

Hi all, another year has passed and it's time for the North Sea Jazz Festival! I’ll try again to let you share in the joy. This year there isn’t a separate player, so I can’t give you a direct link. Instead I’m giving you, as far as possible, the page of the concert. The video or audio screen will be either directly at the top of the page or you’ll have to scroll down a bit for some. For video links click on the little wheel on the bottom right in the video screen to open the settings of the video and there click right to where it says: “Buitenland” to set for the best options available to watch it from abroad. Hope that will give you clear enough sight. Last year there were some problems. Anyway, enjoy! Kind regards, page. 40 year anniversary of the North Sea Jazz festival: video: http://www.npo.nl/40-jaar-north-sea-jazz-special/05-07-2015/VPWON_1240791 concert Jarrod Lawson 10-07-2017; video: http://www.npo.nl/north-sea-jazz-2015/10-07-2015/WO_NTR_1344643 concert Marcus Miller 10-07-2015; audio: http://www.radio6.nl/nieuws/detail/5000/baslegende-marcus-miller-speelt-een-strakke-set concert Typhoon 10-07-2015; audio: http://www.radio6.nl/nieuws/detail/4998/liefdevol-startschot-typhoon concert Alabama Shakes 11-07-2015; audio: http://www.radio6.nl/nieuws/detail/5006/alabama-shakes-schuurt-de-maas-schoon concert Forq 11-07-2015; video: http://www.npo.nl/north-sea-jazz-2015/11-07-2015/WO_NTR_1344648 concert Terence Blanchard ft The E-Collective (3 songs) 11-07-2015; video: http://www.npo.nl/north-sea-jazz-2015/11-07-2015/WO_NTR_1352943 impressions of the 10th and 11th of July 2015, commentary reports in Dutch but maybe still fun to watch; video: http://www.npo.nl/north-sea-jazz-2015/11-07-2015/VPWON_1244596

Aw, I'm really sorry to hear that. I have enjoyed watching his movies. Yes, his role in Dr Zhivago was nice indeed. R.I.P. Omar Sharif. On another note, I'm looking for strong faces to draw to practise my portrait skills and he would make a great subject I think.
