  1. Thanks for the info. I meant the line up, not the festival itself. I know about that.
  2. Thank you for posting, erwbol. I hadn't seen this yet. I wish he still was coach of Oranje. I quite like him. Who is the pianist?
  3. Heiniken owns other Dutch brands too like Amstel and Brand. A few years ago I accidentily ended up at a party of Brand for business relations and found out about that. I don't think everyone there in Limburg was too happy about this fact. There was good music at the party, though I was about the only one to notice since the people there were all drunk because drinks were for free. When I ever will drink beer btw.(I'm a red wine lover as well), it won't be Heineken.
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. Happy Birthday!
  6. Are you sure it isn't an April fools joke?
  7. Hi Tom, I do like it yes, so I'll look into the album.. How's the Benny Golson album? I just got notified today that he will be playing here in spring while accompanied by my favourite nat. pianist ánd drummer!!! Unfortunately I need a car to get there and I don't have one (anymore). I do have a friend who is co-hosting the event though, so maybe I can ride with him. I've really enjoyed your BFT. Thanks again, I had fun. Kind regards, page
  8. Stormy tuesday today. We had a touch of Niklas.
  9. Wow! Amen! ha. Things There are things in life, things that may never happen and I don't mean 'things' but people. People you may never meet. Beautiful people who touch your soul speaking their heart, true and open. To witness is to share, to look is to know. I knew, when I saw you. © 2009 page a.r.r.
  10. There is an office of Scientology in A'dam and ever since I was 18 someone from them spoke to me on several occasions in trying to come with them and take some sort of test. I never did, since I am not as gullible as I look (apparently). (Even one time in Belgium a colleague of his did too. Weird.) A friend of mine did go one time and told me he had to take some psychological test which told him he needed to take action to get his life in order and they were his best option. For the people in Holland, this recrutement had this particular spot in the Kalverstraat for a very long time and since I first was student and then worked in the center of our Capital City I ran into him all the time. I do believe there must be a God (maybe strange to say for someone who grew up in a Christian home), but I don't understand a lot of things that happen in the world and have my questions about that and i do believe in a free mind; therefore I have become kind of hesistant towards movements like this one. No, I wouldn't even go with Tom Cruise when he would ask, not even when he would give me that great smile.
  11. Let's get this party rolling...

  12. You betcha! I'll bring some wine and olives. Now some beer and some music to dance to, let's get this party rolling.... Eh, I guess I was so cheerful for finishing my taxes finally. Don't mind me.
  13. Where will you get that, erwbol? Is that in that one special shop in Haarlem? I was there not too long ago, to enquire what whiskey to get as a present. Do you mean the store in the Koningstraat (between V&D and the Grote Markt)? They have an impressive range of Malts, but I couldn't afford to shop there if I wanted to. I did get two Glencairn glasses there once, though I seldom buy Whisky. At most once a year. Yes, that one. I didn't get a bottle yet, I just enquired what to get my Scottish friend. A friend of mine did buy something there, not whiskey. They seemed expensive indeed. I actually have a Scotch and a Bourbon at the moment. They are for my best friend, he's a lover of whiskeys. (I do know Bourbon, isn't whiskey) So I got those for him in case he wants something nice when he visits me. I think I buy a bottle a year too, not more. I just drink wine myself. So your post was a joke? I seem to take everything literally and miss out on the jokes often. Even Scottish whisky is cheapest when bought on the internet these days, despite the cost of shipping, though I haven't done so myself (yet). Ah, I don't really buy on the internet. I know I'm hopelessly old fashioned.

  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. I'd love to get it. One of my favourite songs is on it. Out of curiousity to compare with the prices, can I ask what will you have to pay, jb? Thís is the song I was talking about. It takes your breath away, doesn't it? It does mine, every time I listen to it. Where will you get that, erwbol? Is that in that one special shop in Haarlem? 17. After finishing my tax form (well almost but the site was overcrowded) I think I deserve a glass of nice wine, so I've just poured myself a glass of Merlot. Cheers, guys and gals!
  18. A download for me, please Dan. Blues?! I am up for that. Not sure about the obscurities and the amount of 21! tracks. That ís a lot. Well, time to live dangerously, since spring will be in the air! Thanks. Kind regards, page
  19. Hi Tom, a really busy month with a tax form to fill in among other things. (sigh) Here are the rest of my answers finally. (Well, not that many but the ones I have been able to come up with along with my impressions.) 01. I like the theme. Have no clue who it is, but it reminds me a bit of Bill Frisell. It probably won’t be him, haven’t been able to find it on his repertoire. 02. a touch of Dixie. Song: Shaking the Blues Away – composer Irving Berlin. Merry tune, nice! No clue for the artist though. 03. song: St Thomas, composer Sony Rollins. No clue. 04. Theme sounds familiar, no clue though. 05. see my previous posting. I love the Latin, a soft spot of mine. I didn't get the album yet, but have noted it on my wishlist. 06. Alan Dawson – album Waltzin’ with Flo – song – Penta Blues – composer Alan Dawson. drums – Alan Dawson, bass – Ray Drummon, piano – James Williams or Donald Brown, tenor Billy Pierce or Andy McGhee, (trumpet, flugelhorn - Bill Mobley) Recorded at December 13, 1992 Really nice! What a lovely album title btw. 07. I really like this one too. The theme sounds familiar, but I can’t come up with a title. 08. Beautiful piano intro. Nice theme. I really like this one. No clue for this one either. 09. I think this is a standard, but I can’t come up with the title. 10. Another one I really have no idea about. 11. John Swana & The Philadelphians ft Bootsie Barnes and Larry McKenna – Philly Gumbo vol 2 (2005) – song Ortlieb’s – Sidd Simmons - piano, Mike Boone - bass, Byron Landham – drums, John Swana – trumpet, Bootsie Barnes – tenor, Larry McKebba 0 tenor. Recorded at April 29, 2004. Label: Criss Cross 2005 Spicy song, really nice! I really enjoyed your BFT. Some songs I am really curious about and albums I might get when I can afford it. Thanks for a lovely listeningbook! Kind regards, page
  20. The AAJ forums is more quiet these days, but still exists and there is a great amount of information there for musicians and non musicans. This forums is more vibrant, also a lot of knowledgeable people who will recommend beautiful music to you. I value both places. When you play guitar, there is a Belgian forums I really hear good things about: jazzguitar.be Many jazzguitarists I know, go there.
  21. Blikvangers - a photo exhibit in The Hague (Eye Catchers) - National Archive The Nationale Archive wanted to show some of their treasures by known and unknown photographers among their collection of 15 million photos. This is just one example: a woman at the "smiling-school" in Budapest, Hungary. http://nos.nl/data/image/2015/02/17/133309/xxl.jpg unknown photographer 1937, source: The National Archive, The Hague
  22. I think that would be a great idea. It would cause more understanding since it shows music can be enjoyed by everyone no matter whether you can hear sound or not. You can feel it. Yes, he's cool indeed. I feel the same as you.
  23. This interpreter really knows his language. This is during the Swedish songcontest.
  24. That's great! Did you speak to him afterwards? I'll bet it was a thrill!
