  1. SS, I'll suffer along with you. I can cut the soft drinks and chocolate with no problem. I eat fast food more than I should (during the work week) but always try to pick the most healthy item that is available. I also love salads, but watch out for the dressing! Mark
  2. Robert, Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday! Mark
  3. I have nothing but good vibes about Mike and AAJ. He's been kind enough to exhibit some of my photographic exhibits and has worked with me on some other issues. There are many things on the AAJ site you can't find here that I find of interest. I go back and fourth between the forums and post a little more here as I have a longer history with many of the members, many of them I consider friends (including Dan ) . I originally joined both sites to learn more about jazz and to contribute where I can, so I think working together a little is a good thing for all; just my 2 cents worth! Mark
  4. I usually order mine from CD Universe. They will probably be here by Friday!
  5. Thanks for the quick review, I was wondering about this one. I've seen Golson a few times over the past couple years and like his playing; I'll have to pick it up!
  6. It doesn't open for me either!
  7. Ramee, Cool story about the festival! I actually have the DVD and love it. Dr. J, I would have to agree on both Hamilton and Giuffre, both are excellent.; I may be photographing this years festival if I can find (reasonable)accomodations. I've never been to Newport before and hope to make it, especially this being the 50th Anniversary!
  8. I would agree, "you can have too much Whitney" .
  9. I don't think the scenes were filmed later as much as they may not have been filmed in sequence, if that makes sense. I do believe Bert Stern said he had several cameras going most of the time, so as to edit them later.
  10. Jim, I thought the same about Anita. At first I couldn't decide but after watching it a few time, I would agree, she's kinda sexy! I really like the film a lot. Besides the music, it give you a visual look of this period in one town in America. Some board members were alive and maybe adults at this time (I was 1 year old). I just think the film is a lot better than I expected and would recommend it. Mark
  11. I haven't written shit, but I did talk to tenor player, David Young about the Stratusphunk LP a week ago. He just laughed and said "Damn, that was a long time ago"! David's a great player, but not really one to talk about himself. Some one was asking him for some comments on Wes Montgomery (for an upcoming documentary) and he didn't think anything he had to say was of any merit. He just seems to be a shy/modest guy. Mark
  12. I stopped in to see those bastards yesterday and picked up a few new ones. ~Illinois Jacquet/Desert Winds ~Sonny Stitt/Personal Appearance ~James Moody/James Moody ~StanGetz & Chet Baker/ Live at the Haig 1953 and one by Woody Shaw on 32Jazz. The funny thing about his one is that is had two cds in it (although it's a single cd recording) and count em....two sets of liner notes....how weird is this ? Mark
  13. Happy Birthday, Stefan ....and many more! Mark
  14. I saw the new band a week ago, very good! I'll post a few photographs in the near future. Mark
  15. Ghost is right, Ray is a great guy. I saw him last week and chatted with him a bit. He always seem to be working through some health issues. He was out of action for a bit a month ago, as the doctors found something that appeard to be a growth in his (I think he told me it was his neck) but it turned out to be ok. I've had several conversations with him about his days with Wes Montgomery, Freddie and Coltrane. Some gigs, he talks more than plays, but it great to hear some of the stories.....he hates rap/hiphop!!! Mark
  16. Maren, Actually, it's not so much of a deep splash (more a "thump") under the New River Gorge bridge; mostly shallow water and lots of rocks. This is actaully one of the "take out" points when you raft on the New River. Water level is really pretty low.
  17. Actually there is a bridge in the US that is taller, the Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado is 1053 feet tall. The New River Gorge bridge is 876 feet tall, so it's a little shorter. I once hung off part of the NRG bridge to photograph base jumpers, what a gas! Although I'm not afraid of heights, I am afraid of falling . I use to do a lot of aerial photography from helicopters without doors, what a view! Mark
  18. ...I hope I'll be able to sleep at night .
  19. ....base jumping, anyone !
  20. I, apparently am a photographer (true) and a famous, gay porn star (....uh...not true).
  21. Be sure to ask them when they plan to copyright their name as "Dusty Groove (the bastards!)" B) Paul, I'm sure they will look at me like this , but I'll be glad to ask!
  22. ...will do! By the way, you recommended Car City Records on my recent trip to Detroit. I did pick up several items; thanks for the tip!
