  1. I've seen the band a few times and they are always great (to my ears)!!! Wish they were coming close to Indy...didn't know they were in Lansing...may have been able to make the trip! Derrick is indeed fantastic!!! He was in Indy several weeks ago to play with Rob Dixon....killer! m~
  2. ....I'm in.....staying with Jazzshrink and keeping the bathroom door closed!
  3. They are performing in Indianapolis in the next few weeks. Sad news!
  4. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
  5. Thanks to all for the kind words and well wishes! Thanks to Rob for the penis cake and ass scratching cartoon...very nice! I'll have to keep that door closed on our next jazz trip! Gina found it funny as well!!! I spent the last two nights at the Jazz Kitchen with Slide Hampton...with one night to go. Spent a big chunk of today with my family. I thought I had a party to go to tomorrow and instead I went out to an early dinner tonight only to find about 30 friends and family members there....big surprise and lots of fun! Here is a photo of Slide blowing out candles on his b-day cake! Thanks again to all! m~
  6. Here are a few images from tonights Slide Hampton show in Indy with Phil Ranelin and Steve Davis. Nice show with a couple originals, a couple blues and a few standards. JJ's wife was in attendance as well....beautiful version of Lament. Spoke to Phil for a while between sets. Told me a little about his recent crash and recovery. The dude looks great! Mark~
  7. This is how my co-workers and I stand around at the office!
  8. Hi Erik, have a GREAT Birthday!!!
  9. I would go, better safe than sorry. I had two front teeth dislodged in a baseball game several years ago...literally almost out of the socket with a big split through my lip and a crack in the roof of my mouth. Although my appears to be more extreme that yours, they wired my teeth and all is well. I went white water rafting the following day which was not the best thing to do. I never thought I would be able to chew/bite with my front teeth but all is good. m~
  10. Indianapolis...hmm...I'm thinking Ab major? Sounds like a great weekend, Mark! Please tell us about it (with pictures if possible!). Like you won't be getting pictures ... ...oh yeah, don't want to forget a camera~
  11. The Pulitzer is basically a journalism prize that grew into a literary prize and now music. Classical composers were recognized first and eventually jazz. WOW, is this better than a grammy......
  12. Not only awful, but highly incorrect as others have already pointed out. Name another civilized country where you or I can purchase an assault weapon for our private use. ...he had two handguns.
  13. Slide Hampton will play three consecutive nights at Indy's Jazz Kitchen for his 75th Birthday this coming weekend....I'll be at all shows if anyone's in the neighborhood. Slide will also get a key to the city from the mayor on Saturday night! http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...D=2007704150346 m~
  14. Very cool indeed...congrats! Can't make it...wish I could
  15. I wondered how long it would take to tie this to GWB! I've never seen one guy responsible for more misdeeds! m
  16. ...this shit happens all over the world as we speak.....not just in America....sad none the less!
  17. The opening went well with maybe 150 or so people stopping by in the two hours.....may have been for the free food but I'm cool with that. The show got a little press with two articles being written on it prior to the event and a couple local jazz djs mentioning it on their programs. Lots of friends, a few co-workers, family, musicians and other people I had never met before stopped in. Lots of kind words from those who came by. Sold a couple prints although it wasn't the number one priority for doing the show. I'm not a big fan of attentions coming my way but the night was cool. Lots of nice shows coming up at the Kitchen with Three Nights of Slide Hampton this coming weekend! Still no Organissimo but I won't give up!!! http://www.thejazzkitchen.com/frameset.html. Mark~
  18. ....cool stuff!
  19. He had three guitars with him for the recording and the show...one of them was a Gibson, don't recall what the thrid was. I may be doing more shooting tomorrow, I'll check it out. m~
  20. I was shooting at the recording session of a friend of mine today (Rob Dixon) that included Mel Rhyne and Fareed Haque...here are a couple photos. Fun day with lots of hanging out talking about music and other things....followed by a show tonight. m~
