  1. Many years ago I got a Dr. Jazz Bothwell album called "Whatever Happened To Johnny Bothwell."
  2. I would love to try out one of those babies.
  3. If you ever get tired of them, I'll take them off your hands for, oh, say $10 each.
  4. There was a positive review of this album on NPR recently, and I must admit, the clips they played sounded good to me.
  5. The Complete Roost Johnny Smith Small Group Sessions
  6. Yeah, I got a "last hurrah" feeling from that myself. That would be nice; here's hoping!
  7. Me too. But I have the feeling that now that they've released Davis Cup and Flight To Jordan as RVG's the end times are upon us.
  8. The La's - BBC In Session
  9. What will happen, I wonder, when the consumer can copy anything (any material object) as easily and cheaply as they now copy music?
  10. That's like 25 bucks per disc. Pricey.
  11. Ace In the Hole is probably my favorite Wilder film. Of course, Some Like It Hot and Double Indemnity are right up there.
  12. Yeah, that Hugh Laurie is really something.
  13. There's a Thai place we used to go to a lot that often played jazz in the background. Miles, Dizzy, Mingus...it was nice. They seemed to stop doing that and for some reason we stopped going so often.
  14. I've long had the impression that he wasn't as good as he thought he was. Nevertheless RIP.
  15. Been getting some amazing reviews. Still not sure I want to see it, though. What I could really do with is a sequel to Lebowski.

    Boscoe

Didn't that also use to be George Costanza's PIN?
  17. Ah, the joys of parenthood! But like they say, she probably won't even remember it.
  18. Then there's Roy Webb. Not terribly famous, but he did some first-rate work. Did the scores for Notorious, Cat People, Murder My Sweet, and Out of the Past. Also for I Remember Mama and Mr. and Mrs. Smith (the old Hitchcock comedy, not the Brad Pitt movie.)
  19. Actually, I've found that's very common with classical music in general, not just Bruckner. Often the first version I heard of a piece "imprinted" on my mind and no other could quite fit the bill.
  20. That one must go way back. Is the implication that all these old laws are still on the books?
  21. Let us know what you think. I've had my eye on that box as well. I've got it, and I like it a lot. I know a lot of people poo-poo Proper, but this box is a good way of getting a lot of Navarro for a little diniro. (Money, that is. Greenbacks. Treasury tea.)
  22. So, I don't want to take away from Fitch, the flight crew needed all the help they could to control the plane and he helped a great deal. But it sounds like because he was the source for the TV show, the impression might have been given that he was the sole reason that there were survivors. I think its fair to say that the entire flight crew, led by the Captain, had a big part in that also. Quite so; my memory of the episode is probably not 100%. I recommend it though.
  23. Actually, this and their first album are both classics in my book.
  24. It was on for only one and a half seasons, I think, done for some cable channel; there are only 17 episodes. The DVD box set is a small box.
  25. When I first saw the thread title, I thought he was angered by "Sting"---the pop singer. Apparently I'm not alone. But really, who of us HASN'T been angered by Sting, at one time or another.
