  1. Listen to this album and "see" what happens when bagpipes outlive their welcome. I always get a kick out of the way Sonny cuts Rufus' solo off during Swing Low. Enough is enough...time for some tenor sax!
  2. Understood Chuck. No worries... P.S. The recent Sony Legacy release of this album does credit Richard Avedon as the photographer.
  3. I'm sure that pose/look was familiar to countless women who gave birth to his numerous children. ← Hey, I just like the picture. No more no less.
  4. Sad news. He was a national treasure. Some oustanding Vassar on this long forgotten album.
  5. I'm nothing, if not predictable.......
  6. Continuing on the animal theme...
  7. That's not encouraging. Hopefully the powers that be will re-think their decision. After all, Jerry would want us to have this!
  8. Heard "Look Out Cleveland" the other day on the radio and couldn't resist the urge to replace my dirty old vinyl copy.
  9. The "Coltrane" deluxe version is quite good. I second the thought that the multiple versions of Tunji found on disc 2 are worth a listen.
  10. Is fusion jazz + rock or rock + jazz or something else entirely?
  11. Claude- I appreciate you taking the time to do the comparison. I have the budget ZYX Galaxy box which includes this date. Time to upgrade! P.S. Thanks for the tip on the Monk.
  12. Being fiscally responsible really sucks. F*&#!

    iPod nano

I'm waiting for the iPod "micronano", sure to be out in the next 90 days or so! Seriously, that looks pretty cool.
  14. Merle Travis- Cannonball Rag
  15. I've been thinking about listening to this set all week. Probably will get to it later tonight.
  16. Ok, this is a very short and fairly subjective review.... Simply, my favorite "with strings" album of all time. Haunting, beautiful, and intimate only begin to describe it.
  17. Anyone pick this up? I'm curious about the sound quality.
  18. Great news regarding WBEZ. You guys should also send your CD to WDCB. The best jazz station in Chicagoland. They don't have the signal strength of WBEZ , however they have a very loyal jazz audience. I imagine that the word of mouth generated by play on their station would translate into sales. www.wdcb.org Continued good luck!
  19. Agreed. The loping character of the piano intro really sets the mood! Speaking of intros... I just today "caught" the chicken pickin' riffs at the beginning of Wealthy Street. Nice.
  20. Has Remo Palmieri's late 70's Concord date made it to CD? I've never seen it.
  21. Classic version of Willow Weep For Me..... Wes Montgomery & Co. from Smokin' At The Half Note
