  1. I could fill up this thread with Kinks "Kouplets" but I'll resist the urge and give you just one of my very favorites from the song Better Days Here's hoping all the days ahead won't be as bitter as the ones behind you Be an optimist instead and somehow happiness will find you....
  2. My first impression is to say the Beatles. However I listen to the following bands on a much more regular basis. My top 5 roughly in order from most frequently played to least frequently played.... 1) The Kinks 2) Peter Green Era Fleetwood Mac 3) Elvis Costello & The Attractions 4) The Clash 5) XTC
  3. Antonio Sanchez is impressive.
  4. Thanks for pointing that out. I just "ponyed" up, can't wait to hear this one! $16.94 including shipping.
  5. check out jim dye's post on the first page of this thread, and free for all's subsequent reply. Thank you Doctor. Late to the party again!
  6. Try this.
  7. I agree. The last two records are mighty fine. My favorite Bob concert experience was during the Shot Of Love tour. The word on the street was he was going to play only his "born again" music (which I happen to like BTW), so he was playing to a virtually empty outdoor theatre and boy was he pissed! He used that anger to his advantage though. Still remember some seriously riotious versions of The Groom's Still Waiting At The Alter, Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat, Hurricane, Takes A Lot To Laugh... Great show!
  8. Local Chicago jazz DJ, Dick Buckley, featured the songs of Arlen on his show this afternoon. Quite enjoyable!
  9. Anyone remember the scene in "Blues Brothers" where Jake and Elwood are trying to get to the Cook County Collector's office so they can pay off the back taxes on the orphanage? The look on their faces while being subjected to that music during that elevator ride is hilarous!
  10. Szechuan stir fry.
  11. Just heard this for the first time Friday night. As they say, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree....
  12. It's been my experience that "the best" elevator music can be heard in hotel resturants during breakfast. Go figure?
  13. Here's a little more info. on Buzz
  14. I say if you can't beat em' join them. I have a number of spare Mosaics for a rainy day. I consider them more as trading material for the future rather than profit makers.
  15. Just made it into the 25-49 category.
  16. I love his take on "Satisfaction" I wouldn't exactly call it singing though! B-) The way he directs the band on the alternate take is priceless. Look out Grady T....... Play it Kenny Burrell..... Yeah Kenny!
  17. I've seen 1925 in a number of different places, none of which I would call definitive. Had a boring ass 3 1/2 hour meeting today. Did nothing but conjure up Jimmy records in my head for the entire meeting. He will be missed.
  18. Together again.
  19. Merle Haggard: Turnin' Off A Memory Dylan: Knockin' On Heaven's Door
  20. I came home today and much to my surprise found a package from Mosaic on my front steps. A surprise gift from my Dad. I will be checking this one out very shortly.
  21. Listening to the 24 bit version right now. My first impression of the overall sound is your typical RVG late 50's sound. Upon further review my characterization of the sound couldn't be much better since the liner notes indicate that this was recorded by Rudy, at his Hackensack studio on 5/25/59.
  22. Here's an amazing integrated amp for the money. Possibly a bit too much based on your budget. Check it out though. You could build one heck of a system around this baby! MF Integrated Amp Review
