  1. Maybe he was thrilled to be playing with Vinnegar and WIlliams?
  2. It's from a live concert. Maybe the concert was billed that way?
  3. Sounds great. I'll admit to being a bit behind on Bird. Lately I've been catching up with some of the Spotlite lp reissues of the Dial material.
  4. Joe Torregano, a New Orleans musician, reported that trumpeter Alvin Alcorn has passed away. Most will probably know Alcorn from his days with Kid Ory.
  5. Booker Ervin does a very nice I Can't Get Started on The Space Book. Not sure what my favorite is. I do like Everything Happens To Me a lot. Great version on Ed Blackwell's Walls~Bridges with Dewey Redman on tenor. Also a very good one on NY Art Quartet Mohawk w/John Tchicai.
  6. any word on the MPS reisues that were talked about in length at the BN BBS? thanks!
  7. There is a Mercury set on e-bay. I don't know what it normally goes for but I don't remember seeing it used very often.
  8. I would think VPI is plug and play. And they have a better upgrade path than the MMF's. Something to look into. If you sold on the 7, post a wanted ad at audiogon.com and take the best offer.
  9. I think this has only been available in Europe. Try and have someone burn it for you. It's a biatch to find.
  10. I think that setup should work great with your new table. Have you decided yet?
  11. Where Fortune Smiles is available on the 2 cd set The Dawn Sessions.
  12. you're so sly.
  13. Look at his other items. I am tempted to believe it could be an error in the listing.
  14. Not to be some kind of "policeman" as shrugs is wont to call me, but isn't this kind of attitude exactly what is getting us copy protected CDs in the first place? say again?
  15. Has anyone visited Rowan Oak? I plan on doing so upon my return to New Orleans this fall. Looking forward to seeing Oxford. I have passed by Oxford on the way to Memphis but have never stopped.

Tom, that was a general statement and didn't apply to you. I do find it humorous when I find out a jazz lover is extremely conservative. Most of their heroes are far from that. Would they have helped out Hank in his later years if they didn't know who he was?
  17. Never buy a sealed collectable lp from someone unless they have some type of return guarantee. Best advice is just to return it for a full refund(usually minus shipping). I made the mistake of making a counter offer for an lp that wan't an original but an early enough reissue for me to be happy. The guy blew up and said I was trying to pull a fast one. It was e-bay and he was a power seller and it wasn't worth the hastle. I wrote it off as a loss.

People with past drug problems still have problems with narrow minded individuals. "I never had a drug problem so they shouldn't have either."
  19. I think Basra has been dropping ever since the word of how great the JRVG is started to spread. Maybe the Spanish version too has filled holes for people?
  20. Apparently it was Faulkner's favorite tv show.
  21. Car 54, Where are you?
  22. Composers: Dmitri Shostakovich, Galina Ustvolskaya Performer: Jacoby, Ingrid (Piano) Orchestras/Ensemble: Royal Philharmonic Orchestra That is the one i heard good things about.
  23. I picked up an Ammons/Stitt twofer on Verve the other day that ain't all that bad! Choice Cuts! Props to any Concord lp's you can find. While they aren't perfect, the price is often nice and you can get into Dave McKenna.
  24. Nope. I have been scoring so many choice classical lp's for .50 to $1 that I haven't kept up. I did read something about a Shostakovich piano concerto sacd that was worth getting. I have close to 75 or so Living Stereo, Merc Living Pres, London Blue Backs and others so I usually pull those out but would like to hear some new performances.
