  1. You mean boxes specific to Mosaic releases? Do you have a Curtis Fuller or a Blue Mitchell mosaic box?
  2. My wife is upstairs (I'm in the basement) clunking away on the piano. It's payback for all that organ soul jazz I crank up at night...
  3. If I have a few beers tonight (and I just might to drown out that horrible piano playing on the part of my wife! ) I will end up purchasing this holy trinity even though I've got all the individual cds.
  4. Oh boy, I buy too much cold sober. I can't imagine what would happen with a few beers. I'd be clicking every "buy it now" icon I could find!!! In any case, I don't have the Mr. T. set, but I have at least half the set on LP. You're going to love it!!! I've got about 2/3 to 3/4 of the set on cd! I bought it for two sessions. Got all the Japanese masterings already. I'll probably hang on to them as well.
  5. I ordered the Turrentine Mosaic yesterday. Had a few beers in me, but I don't think I'll regret the decision.
  6. I like a lot of the Legends of Acid Jazz series. These are Prestige two-fer reissues. I've got a bunch of them, but am still missing a few. Pretty good "soul-jazz."
  7. I'm happy with New England's draft so far. They picked up two outstanding offensive line prospects in Nick Kaszur (Toledo) and Logan Mankins out of Fresno. The team basically took a pass on the first day of the draft aside from these two picks. They have tons of picks tomorrow. Great draft for San Francisco and Dallas, I think. Jets did well despite not having a first round pick. Interesting pick for Detroit in the first round. Pittsburgh did well with their first two picks. I find the lower rounds and later picks to be more interesting. The top picks are all forecasted and predictable.
  8. Yes, Rod Serling could have made a great Twilight Zone episdoe out of this.
  9. I can understand Chuck's exasperation over threads like this. At the same time, I've started my share of them in the past! Too many favorites. I've been listening to jazz for only 6 or 7 years now. Those who have been listening for 30 years or so would definitely find my music comments sophomoric. Couple that with the fact that I can't play any music myself, and there would be no reason for me to be other than humble when it comes to musical pronouncements. I would imagine that Jazzkat's experience is even callower than mine. I can dig what Chuck's saying...
  10. For $7 discount, I'd probably go direct with Mosaic as well. Now if Underground were to drop a few more $ off one of his sets he bought from this character...then maybe....
  11. Without a doubt. I would imagine most only use them for times that are incovenient. There's nothing as satisfying as a sucessful manual snipe on eBay. Snatching that puppy away with three seconds left to go and imagining the look on Conn's face is priceless... ...Conn frowns a bit, then breathes a sigh of relief he didn't end up spending more money...
  12. No, a sniper determines his max bid just as a proxy bidder does. If you decided to bid $10000 on a copy of Kind of Blue, the sniping software will not outbid you unless the sniper has told it that he is willing to pay $10001 for the item. This means that all you have to do to win the auction is what you always do--make a bid that you think nobody will beat. Okay, I get that part. Wasn't quite clear on how it worked. So looking back, I guess the annoyance comes when nobody shows any interest in the item and you think you've got it won. You think you've got it won for 6 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, but lose it in the last minute. It's human to get upset about that!
  13. I had a friend over and we were burning some of my B-3 cds so we could make compilation cds. I stacked them all up and there's about 200 of them! I never knew I had so many. We're having fun trying to make compilations cds. It's been over a week now, and we are listening to all of them to pick out tunes. How could I possibly pick out 10? It's impossible!
  14. Nice stuff. Very intense.
  15. Then bid a higher amount to outbid the snipers. I use Esnipe for time and economical reasons. Not so simple. With snipers you lose out no matter what, right? What is a full bid? It is often determined by market forces. We work our way towards developing a sense of market value, then feel we've got a grip on it and place our max bid. Whatever that may be, some sniper comes in at the last minute... Again, it's all allowed and we shouldn't get annoyed about it, but we do. There's something sneaky and underhanded about it all, but that's the marketplace...
  16. Great pic, Wes; and great attitude!
  17. which discs have wonky sound? I'd like to know as i'm considering buying the set. I've got most of the individual titles, so I would like to know which of the sessions have the wonky sound.
  18. The anger comes when you're winning the bid for days right up until the last second. You go from having the item to losing it within seconds. That's why buyers might get annoyed at snipers. Fortunately, I don't need to buy much from ebay anymore, so it doesn't really matter to me. I like "buy-it-nows." That's the best way!
  19. ebay snipers are a pain in the ass! I just bid what I will pay. I often get sniped at the end. I dunno; I find it rude somehow, though objectively I'm not sure that's a fair statement.
  20. I can't believe that I started such a stupid poll and left out Patterson and Groove Holmes. Either could have replaced Baby Face and Reuben Wilson.
  21. Can't quite agree with you on this. Organ tunes are good pick-me-uppers as well.
