  1. I use a tax preparer (not accountant!) She prepares tax returns for a living and does a good job. Charges about the same as HR Block but does a better job. I'd look through the yellow pages to find someone. CPAs are often too expensive; and I don't trust Block at all. You might get a good Block employee or a moron. It's total potluck. In the meantime, they will try to "sell" you a Roth-IRA or regular IRA, which, to me, represents a conflict of interest.
  2. you named it 'fiscal' ! Are you one of the few women, Rachel, who might prefer the physical over fiscal?
  3. Thanks Rachel. Happy Valentine's also to you and the other females on the board (how many? 3? ) I gave my wife nothing but a kiss on the forehead today... -_- She'll get a more...er...fiscal type prize later on...
  4. As previously mentioned, I've had good luck with this outfit. But there's no way I want to go through what Michael has gone through. I'm not buying anything "rare" from those guys. It may not be a perfect world, but I don't think Michael's demands are by any means unreasonable. If I order something that was listed but is not in stock then unless they email me back with that info promptly, they're getting a neutral or negative feedback. I don't have much patience for this stuff. I've got to be efficient in my job, and I expect the same from a powerful and large dealer like that.
  5. I've been buying up some of the Jimmy Smith cds that weren't in my collection. I just ordered "Fourmost" and "Fourmost returned." I also order the BN with Jimmy Smith and Grant Green called, I think, "I'm movin on." I owned it once and sold it. As usual, I'm buying it back. Anyway, I've got most of his stuff, but just wanted to complete my collection. He was the greatest.
  6. Although I've had nothing but good results from buying stuff, I have been definitely influenced by the negative comments on this thread. It seems that Cascaiman offers lots of Japanese stuff, and I'm staying away. That appears to be a backorder if there ever was one.
  7. The inevitable has occurred and the rest of the league (and colleges) have taken the New England coordinators. Secondary coach, Eric Mangini was also heavily targeted but decided to stick around and be promoted as the NE defensive coordinator. This is huge for the team, because it will provide some degree of continuity, and Mangini is viewed as a real coaching talent. The pillaging hasn't ended yet, however, as NE Director of Player Personnel, Scott Pioli, who is often credited for picking up good cheap players in free agency is being interviewed by Seattle. Pioli is definitely General Manager material, and is likely to leave when his contract expires in 2006. If he leaves before that, NE is likely to be entitled to some compensation in the form of draft picks. I think Pioli will stick around for another season, but it will be interesting to see how the Pats play next year with all the coaching changes. I can't imagine the players being anywhere as motivated as they have been over the last few seasons. Two Super Bowls fills the belly, I bet. Maybe it's Pittsburgh's turn next year...
  8. So you drink Stella Artois and leave the Rolling Rock for your dog, huh?
  9. A droll little circumstance once occurred: as if he meant to reprimand my minute exactness as a creditor, he thus addressed me, 'Boswell, lend me sixpence-not to be repaid.' -Boswell's "Life of Johnson."
  10. What's more depressing is to find yourself as the final poster on a thread. That sucks! edited: looks like this topic has been covered in another thread. I won't reply to it for fear I might be the last!
  11. Hows that for analysis? Great job! Welcome to our forum. Please post more often. Excellent contribution. I will listen once again to my two versions...
  12. Don't know if this has ever been brought up before, but I'm curious as to whether the older TOCJ versions issued in the early 1990s sound inferior to later issues. I compared the 1994 TOCJ of Big John Patton, "Along Came John" with the Ron McMaster domestic version issued in the late 90s and felt the domestic version was superior sonically. Are my ears messed up, or might this generally be true when comparing the earlier TOCJs with more up to date domestic issues? Any opinions?
  13. Of course I love them both, but I've been listening to the Verve stuff more of late.
  14. The greatest jazz organist has passed. I'm gonna play some of his stuff now. He'll always live on.
  15. huh? I didn't know they did that.
  16. The alt. take is on "Lost Grooves." Man, I like that tune too. Interesting to see how the retained take sounds. I guess I'll have to keep my "Lost Grooves" cd now. I agree that is should have been included with this reissue. At least we get a cool cover!
  17. Cascaiman has been good to me. I've ordered many times through half.com and have never encountered any problems. Seems like the problems are coming from the Amazon site. I like ordering multiple items from them through half.com as I can save a buck on shipping for every extra cd. The cds are packaged well and usually arrive within 10 days.
  18. The only thing I vandalize is my pocketbook. Been spending a lot lately...
  19. He's graduated to puppies, Chuck.
  20. You've got to be able to take a little heat if you hang around here (especially if you talk politics.) At the same time, we've got genuine respect for each other. It's all part of the same thing. It's the cost of developing a round relationship.
  21. I don't think it's any big deal, Aggie. We just like to heap hazing abuse here...
  22. Cats have always had a healthy respect for it.
  23. That's why Chaney lives alone.
