  1. How so? It sure would have made some of my eBay dealings easier!
  2. It happens occasionally, but don't bet on it!
  3. Well, the problem is, once you do it, you're kind of stuck. In the incestual (is that a word?) world of jazz bulletin boards, jazzmoose is pretty well known, but who the hell ever heard of Mark Combs? And once you're known by that name, you're just as "googlable". The different names on different boards I don't understand, although I used "Mrs. Anne Elk" on JazzCorner for a while. I don't think I fooled anyone, but then it wasn't my intention to do so.
  4. Well, I can't say that I think ill of you; I don't even know you. As far as I'm concerned, that was your first post, and you're entitled to a fresh start here. Besides, it's not like I haven't been kicked off of a site before...
  5. Part of my family is, if you go back far enough. But the ones who could tell you anything about it are all dead now. I must admit, I'm a bit fascinated with the place. I collect Danish stamps, read about Danish history...wish I could read the language, but the only words I know are stamp terms and colors! Plus, I can't write them with an English keyboard. Frustrating! My fascination with the country began when I was about six...I read a book that was set in Copenhagen, and seeing it in person became a childhood fantasy. Maybe someday, but the somedays are starting to run a bit low...
  6. Yeah, that is just amazing! Although, if I had been told that story as a kid, I'd probably lose that watch as soon as possible... Another favorite is the potbelly bit from the girlfriend.
  7. I'm sure I'll read it as soon as the local library gets a copy. My library fare is heavy on commercial writing like Connolly; purchases for the home shelves run to pretentious crap. Hmmm...sounds like a great budgeting tool; I have got to start getting back to the library!
  8. Can all this pretentious crap; the new Michael Connelly is out!
  9. I think Americans have always taken a perverse pride in ignorance, from the days of the "hick" colonists standing up to the British. The wisdom of the common man and all that, and a distrust of "book larnin'". It's unfortunate, but it's one of the things that makes us what we are. Idiots.
  10. I had one that was eighteen pounds once, and he was humongous...I can't imagine one closing in on thirty!
  11. Not if we can secure our borders; we've gotta keep these pointy-headed intellectuals out!
  12. Two stone would be about twenty-eight pounds, according to the converter I used. Thank goodness my stones aren't that big!
  13. So now that you're finished (or almost) what do you think? Recommend it?
  14. Yeah, when you go on that long about it, I have to agree... I'd argue with you about the merits of the various seasons, but then I'd look just as bad.
  15. Oh, I agree; I'm well aware that my problem with the term is internal rather than external. Hell, I still cringe when I hear a teenage girl say "sucks"...
  16. ...a mug shot of the unfortunate victim:
  17. Doesn't everybody? Certainly not. I have a handcarved ivory syringe box, plus an antique silver spoon for melting my uh....I think I've said enough. Nevermind.
  18. I think that's total bullshit, but then I'm probably one of those old farts who reads things into "pimped out" that you hip young people don't see...
  19. Personally, I think what we've seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg. I caught a pro wrestling show on TV the other day, and frankly, I'm a bit suspicious...
  20. Someone ask them if we will ever start talking about starting a band.
  21. I wonder if Ted made it yet...
  22. I wouldn't want them following me either, but then I'm not the kind of moron who would have wanted their attention in the first place. I know this is kind of insensitive (or maybe extremely insensitive), but I just don't have that much sympathy for those who chase fame. Hell, it's what they wanted, isn't it?
  23. Good point!
  24. I always thought that one was underrated.
  25. Well, at least it didn't snow today, although the foot or so on the ground doesn't look like it's going anywhere...
