  1. Hey, they could at least make them deductable!
  2. Maybe it was just on the first track. It....it...hey, guys; this is really too good to listen to while I'm posting. Gotta sign off for a while...
  3. Rob, if you have a bad copy then I do as well. This is really fantastic music, not at all what I expected (oops; that came out wrong!), but that buzz or distortion at points is really annoying...
  4. Maren, as far as I'm concerned, that is a solid argument for allowing concealed firearms...
  5. Never cared for Harding myself.
  6. That's exactly what my wife says: it makes her nervous. I guess it makes sense in one way; if you go with the "jazz is the music of surprise", then I guess it's safe to assume that some people just don't like surprises.
  7. Point taken!
  8. Wow. I remember being 25. Okay, not really, but I know I was 25 once.
  9. So does this mean we can buy all the CDs and LPs we want next month, and our spouses can't say anything? Huh? Does it? "What are you, dear, a Communist?? I had to buy these this month!"
  10. Just to show what a late-comer I am to jazz... My Funny Valentine: Elvis Costello Summertime: most definitely Janis Joplin What can I say?
  11. The Anita and the June/Julie ones are freaky enough, but that Saxophone Colossus...
  12. I'm just sitting here staring at Jeff's avatar...
  13. I agree. Between this board, and places like Sudden Thoughts (and others, not going to try and name them all!), I get more than I ever got from the in print jazz press.
  14. Never could stand this band, no matter what the frontman...
  15. Emerson, Lake and Palmer in '73 or '74. Still the best rock concert I ever saw or heard!
  16. You're probably right; the guy was just trying to get out of the deal. But once you've made the offer of the refund, and the buyer has returned the merchandise in good condition (as you indicate he has), you are obligated to issue the refund as you promised. Anything else would be less than honest in my opinion. Good guide: always take the high road...
  17. Thanks a lot, Bill...that was enough to make me spew my coffee last night and fire off an order...that fence was getting mighty rough on the backside!
  18. So we have the Lady, for those who like laddies, and Laddie, for those who like ladies...if they come out with a "Lassie", I don't want to know about it, okay?
  19. Stop; you're going to complain about people who run red lights, right? Yeah, I hear ya...
  20. I'm always at a loss when things like this happen, David; all I can say is you and your family will be in my thoughts; take care...
  21. Definitely time to hit the sack. I have to get up in six hours for work, so this is ridiculous. Just one more forum...
  22. Hardbopjazz, contact the seller and ask him if he will cancel your bid, unless he's willing to stick with the old shipping charge. If he refuses, then go ahead and retract your bid. If you have to go that route, contact eBay as well and tell them what the seller has done. This is wrong, and you shouldn't let them get away with it. However, as I say, I would see if they will cancel your bid first, so it doesn't show up as a bid retraction for you.
  23. Seriously, though; I really admire the people who go out of their way to make others feel welcome. You know, the ones at a party or gathering who step away from their friends to talk to the wallflowers, or the ones at a company event who go out of their way to talk to the new hires. I always appreciated that back in my shy days (yes, they existed!), and I try...but some people are really good at it!
  24. The dishonesty I can't stand is people who seem to lie obsessively. I know a couple of people who it seems, given a choice between an easy truth and telling a convoluted lie, will chose the lie just out of habit. Even if it's something we both know they're lying about! And if you call them on it, they'll swear up and down it's the truth. It just amazes me...
