  1. Typical rightwing callousness! As a liberal, I think toothless hag prostitutes should receive goverment funding to allow them to compete on an even keel. Plus an additional allowance to enable them to buy heavy make up, push up bras, and support hose to hide the varicose veins.
  2. That's ridiculous! Why, if it wasn't for Monty Python, I could have gone through my entire life without seeing a Scotsman on a horse...
  3. But I want a musical number to break out! That's the whole point for me.
  4. This may sound like a strange choice for "comfort", particularly as I'm more at home with hard bop as yet, but Coltrane's My Favorite Things will probably always be my "comfort album". Part of it is that I've had it for quite a while, the other part is probably the number of times I've played it. When a disc is your first jazz disc, and it takes a couple of years to go over the edge and become a fanatic, you tend to overplay it a bit!
  5. I have never seen any Indian movie, and that's just intolerable! Particularly for someone like me who remains bitter about the passing of the Hollywood musical.
  6. I agree with the comments here about The Sidewinder; The Rumproller is called a clone by many, but I think it's far superior. Fortunately I discovered Lee through his work with Art Blakey, so it didn't slow down my developing fanatacism. My choice for least favorite Blue Note however, would be Freddie Hubbard's Hubtones. THAT one stopped me cold, until a few years later when this gang (back in the BNBB days!) convinced me to try Open Sesame.
  7. I guess that's a big "no"; oh well...I'll be there representing the Organissimo Forum crowd. I'll try to be on my best behavior, but if a strange crowd shows up here on Monday, it's not my fault!
  8. That am one good looking avatar, RDK! Me am not wishing you unhappy birthday!
  9. Ah, I'm feeling better with a 3-2 Devils edge. I won't say it's time to stick a fork in the Ducks (sorry!), but I'm hoping!!
  10. Everyone was up in arms when smoking was banned in bars here in California ("Welcome to California; if you're lighting up, it better be a joint!"), but the bars seem to be weathering the change pretty well. People don't go to bars to smoke, they go to bars to drink. Now, if they banned alcohol at bars, you might have a problem...
  11. My wife does, and it drives me nuts...
  12. Now wait just a darned minute...you're telling me those letters in NatLamp were real??
  13. I'm sorry, but the idea of a team named after ducks hoisting the Stanley Cup is totally repugnant to me....GO DEVILS!!!!!!!!!!
  14. No contest for me. Watching a group of Native Americans thrash a reptile sounds...different, but put the bomb on me! Oh, sports...okay; I'd still go with the music.
  15. Well, if I may correct your spelling, he most certainly is someone of impotence in the music industry!
  16. DAMN!!!! I may not be the most knowledgable jazz fan in the world, but I sure as hell know where to ask questions! Thanks, everyone!
  17. This news item just in from down under... Python quote leads to legal skirmish...
  18. Hi, I'm Mark, and I've been clean and sober for almost a month now. Uh, unless buying from board members counts...
  19. Good news, but a little explanation on their part would be nice...
  20. I voted for 1812. Darn Canadians!
  21. ...but what if this is my favorite poll?
  22. Yes, but will any salesmen call?
  23. I'm with Patricia; Rope is definitely #1 for me, but I'll try to pick one from the list...
  24. I am so disappointed in this thread. By this time, I had hoped to have learned the secrets to the animation in Parkertown's avatar, plus have learned what the heck it's pointing at...
