  1. shrug.
  2. http://levintornwhite.com/
  3. When's that coming out anyway? Can't happen soon enough.
  4. Just got back from the store...looks like they designed the "cover" and forgot to include room for the book.
  5. OK, that's enough...time to close this thread too.
  6. why bother to close it?
  7. Loose the hair curlers and bunny slippers then.
  8. It maybe, but it sounds huge to me. The orchestra give him some dynamic options that tuned percussion just doesn't have. You just can't hit a chord and make it louder like you can with horns.
  9. I hear ya. I made my 40 hours by 9pm Wed night. Everything from here on is OT for me.
  10. I drive for a living too. Sometimes it leaves me exhausted and confused too. Sleep is the best at times like these.
  11. Ah! I didn't say anything about the piece Atlantis: it sounds like it's from the '50s Feldman! I'll be driving in the morning, this time I'll be able to listen closer.
  12. that might be it, but that wasn't what I was thinking of.
  13. if you have to ask, then you don't need to know.
  14. I've been listening to Atlantis (Hat Art), a collection of orchestral pieces by Feldman. I never really warmed to this one when this disc came out, now I'm curious...String Qt & Orchestra and Oboe & Orchestra sound too massive for Feldman. I guess I'm used to chamber music Feldman. I wouldn't even recognise it as a Feldman piece. I'll keep listening, it's in my car this week.
  15. Yeah- but the outro to Layla is still magic to my ears. I guess I could like the microtonal slide guitars getting quarter toneish.* I have to admit I bought the latest edition of the album to get that amazing version of Mean Old World with Duane Allman. * edit: not that there's any thing wrong with that, it's the over exposure of an OK song that bugs me.
  16. I don't know who's more tired, the song Layla or me hearing it my whole fucking life.
  17. I bought it when it came out, but I don't think I've listened to it more than a few times so I gave it a spin a few days ago. Nice radio play with some real nice Feldman textures unfolding in the back ground, but it's not something I'd listen to often. Same for Neither, so I gave that a listen too. Maybe the signer is a bit too loud in the mix? I still think the String Qt (1979) is wonderful.
  18. Sorry, I guess I was at cross-purposes; have had Feldman on the brain recently. Anyway, quite coincidentally, a friend sent me a link to a 1990 interview of Rowe for purposes quite unrelated to this discussion. As it turns out, Rowe was close to Cornelius Cardew. Rowe also seems to have some acquaintance with Christian Wolff and Feldman. Very interesting bit of musical history. Worth perusing if you have time: Rowe Interview Thanks, I'll take a look at it later.
  19. wow...the link still works and the music is still there.
  20. I un-friend-ed him a few weeks ago.
  21. I shared the Gloria Coates piece because it's a classical guitar thread. I didn't have Morty in mind when I did it.
  22. Like what? Does he play classical guitar or other peoples music?
  23. The time has come today. Lets Induct Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band into the Rock Hall of Fame
  24. grapefruit?
