  1. radical. Gloria Coates: Lunar Loops (1987)
  2. Check this out, very interesting! Feldman Guitar Story I rather thought this would have to be an electric guitar, to achieve some of the modulation needed. I think it depends on what he was looking for? He sure was!
  3. Another thought on transcribing Feldman's piano pieces for guitar: some of the notes might be out of range, too low. Maybe a 10 string guitar would be the solution?
  4. I just listened to them a few weeks ago. I think they're great examples of late 20th century music, not much minimalism here.* Feldman transcribed for guitar would be great, I'd like to hear it. It might need more than one guitar! There was a Feldman piece for guitar discovered a few years ago. It's been recorded, but never released. I've never heard it. * I bought 'em for the Elliott Carter and Milton Babbitt years ago.
  5. Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune, Ben Bolt, guitar edit: I'm looking for his arrangement. He writes books for Mel Bay.
  6. Same with me. He uses a lot of signature tricks in different tunes. This makes 'em sound similar. I usually know it's Monk, sometimes I know the name. There's a bunch of 'em I know how to play the heads.
  7. A good friend's elderly parents live about 50 miles east of there. Any word on how the Hudson Valley fared? The Hudson Valley made out pretty well - some local flooding, some power outages. Some areas in the Catskills got hit harder. The first film and photos I saw of the flooding in Margaretville scared the hell out of me. A 90 min trip to Newburgh took me four hours Monday morning because the NY State Thru-way was closed. We called off the trip on Sunday. However, it was a beautiful day for driving and listening to tunes. I took 9W (River Road on the West side of the Hudson) back to Ft. Lee, NJ., a route I've never done before.
  8. The power finally died at 9am, our basement is flooded and so is our parking lot. I'm on my 8th floor balcony watcing my neighbors drive their cars out. My car has been on our towns only parking deck down the street since yesterday so I'm in good shape. Time for breakfast and some guitar playing.

  10. I'm on +, but what's the point? It's not as popular as FB so there aren't as many people on it. It needs a mobile version for me to use on my Blackberry.
  11. I did all that shopping Thursday morning. I live next to the Rahway river, so in the morning I'll put the car on a parking deck down the street and retire to my apt to listen to tunes until the power goes out. I see my parking lot is mostly empty this evening!

  13. If you have to decide if you are excited u ain't. Yeah. Exactly.
  14. How is this compared to other music by Moondog? I bought this last week, still trying to decide if I'm excited or not.
  15. Slept through that one too. NJ is a noisy place, I screen a lot of the racket out.
  16. nice post ep1str0phy.
  17. I was driving and would not have known a thing but for hearing it on the radio. Obviously, I was surprised when I did hear it. My next thought was that even a slight shake could knock my guitar off the stand at home and possibly damage it. I called my roommate and he looked and it was not the case. My general feeling is NYC was pretty unmolested. I hope that once things calm down this is the case on the entire east coast. Gonna watch the news update now... And that's why I always keep 'em in a case or gig bag. One never knows when there's going to be a quake in Jersey.
  18. Didn't notice a thing. I was walking down the street on the way to the Dentist. I miss all the fun.

  24. When I'm in town, I get to drive my own car and this has been in rotation all week. I'm really enjoying this one, the guitars could be louder...but I got over that a while ago.
