    Jack Sheldon

    RIP Mr. Sheldon.
  3. I haven’t tried that one but I always had this image of Clarin (his pseudonym) as difficult to read. Speaking of Spanish authors, have you ever read Tristana by Perez Galdos. There is a nice translation by NYRB Classics. Received the following over the holidays.
  4. Fascinating video of the orchestration behind Wouldn’t it be Nice.
  5. I still remember when I first heard the Sounds of Silence, plus I was an usher when the Graduate came out (saw the movie some 50 odd times) so the song is imprinted in my brain. Today:
  6. Someone started a Butterfield thread on Hoffman that has some interesting stuff and links. https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/paul-butterfield-blues-band-thoughts.913237/
  7. I recently replaced the above turntable with a new one so this one is for sale. It comes with the dust cover. I've had it since 2005 but barely used it until the last couple of months. Basically, it is almost in new condition. It has a brand new cartridge, an Ortofon 2M Red Phono Cartridge, installed by my dealer only three weeks ago. It comes with the original box. Asking $125 plus shipping. Please pm me if interested or with any questions.
  8. He was an icon in the radio business and I loved all his rants and when he used to talk to his brother Fred (who died in 2011) but by the time he was kicked off the air in 2007, his time had come and gone. When WFAN was in its infancy, he kept the station alive. I doubt there’d be a WFAN today without him. RIP Don.
  9. If we are using a numerical range, I’d probably place him between 5 and 6 although Jim’s 6.5 isn’t probably far off either. I like him in short bursts from time to time.
  10. Jon Heyman tweeted the following: “Most improved teams so far: 1. White Sox 2. Yankees. 3. Angels. 4. Reds. 5. Rangers. 6. D-Backs. 7. Phillies. 8. Mets. 9. Jays. 10. Padres.”
  11. I see from your post in Hoffman it’s the cd. I will take it. Please send me your address for payment.
  12. He’s on his way! Long live Santa

  14. That’s an amazing story. How many of us can say they played with the likes of him. Very few I’d bet.
  15. Do you (or anyone else) have any recommendations, not necessarily just him, but blues in general. I have to admit ignorance but I had not heard about him until I read in the new book about Janis Joplin. Then I saw that there was a thread about him at Hoffman, https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/reverend-gary-davis.775111/
