  1. This is a release from the mid 60s showcasing some Electra artists such as Paul Butterfield and Loving Spoonful. It was released on cd but is more prevalent in vinyl.
  2. I have all of these in cd but I could see springing for Roots and Herbs, and the Waiting Game.
  3. The iPhones do have some great cameras.
  4. I believe that’s correct, unless there was an agreement that said otherwise.
  5. Musso is on a Savoy disc (with two other unrelated sessions) called Loaded that isn’t bad; been years since I listened to this.
  6. Received the set and haven’t had a chance to really explore it but the more Janis the better. Reading the recent bio by Holly George-Warren. She didn’t have an easy life. Obviously a lot of pain.
  7. The Waller sides are great in this set. I’m sure he’ll love it.
  8. By the way, this is an authorized issue or re-issue, not a knockoff; Butterfield’s son wrote a blurb for the release (there are no liner notes) and the release was made with the family’s permission.
  9. Agree about Rogue One. It was a good stand alone movie. Also, the series The Mandalorian on the Disney Channel is better than these past few movies. I don’t agree about Abrams. I just don’t think he’s very good. A mistake they made in the last three was having two different directors; different ideas, different visions, etc.
  10. I grabbed the wrong photo, sorry. Here’s the correct one It’s a 1970 live date recorded in NY. Issued by Rockbeat Records. Two cds of material. This one is included in the Elektra box, which is still available from Amazon.
  11. I didn’t think it was that good. I mean. It was ok but not great. My son, who is a big fan, hated it. I don’t know if you saw the Times review, but it was pretty critical. There’s a significant drop off in quality between the Lucas directed movies and these last three.
  12. Ball and Chain is mesmerizing; there is so much feeling and emotion in her performance that you know it comes from deep in the heart. I loved how the camera focused on her legs and feet.
  13. Has anyone heard of a group called the Prime Movers Blues Band? I came across this entertaining YouTube channel where the host, among other records, discussed an album by them reissued by Sundazed. From the little I read about them, they were a Paul Butterfield-influenced group. He discusses the record around the 3:50 mark. He also discusses a Gabor Szabo récord later in the video
  14. Thanks for that. A big thanks actually. The one I saw was the original version, around 80 or 90 minutes. I saw the expanded 2017 version has two hours of additional performances including Blues Project, Electric Flag, more Big Brother, etc. so that was an easy decision to order it.
  15. I watched The Monterey Pop Festival film today. I had never seen it before. The standout performances for me were Janis Joplin and Big Brother, and the extended Ravi Shankar piece. What marred the movie was its brevity, which made it choppy. I don’t think we’ll ever get an extended film but it would be nice if Rhino could give the Festival the same treatment it gave to Woodstock. Probably never see that either.
  16. Thanks for mentioning this. It’s on Amazon Prime. Will be watching it later.
  17. I completely agree but groups like the Stones (in their early stuff) also helped.
