  1. I recently bought a cd from an eBay seller in Japan and the tracking shows it arrived in NY on May 5 but no activity since then. I'm fearing that it's probably lost. I went to the Post Office yesterday and someone is supposed to call me back.
  2. I listened to part of disc 1 of the Quebec 45 sessions. I can’t remember when I last listened to it.
  3. This came out yesterday: A Lifetime Of Carla Bley, by Ethan Iverson.
  4. Although I understand MC’s point of view, if a group is not playing standards, why would they record them or play them?
  5. I love the Coleman disk, listened to it recently.
  6. Jazz Lives has this great interview with Dan Morgenstern where he is talking about Bird. See https://jazzlives.wordpress.com/2018/03/20/dan-morgenstern-remembers-charlie-parker-december-15-2017/ At one point he veers off to Art Blakey where he says he doesn’t like him but says he doesn’t want to get into it. Does anyone know what that’s all about?
  7. The As are no easy mark. They could have won the series against the Yankees. The Nats are playing their best ball right now, all without Rendon and Murphy.
  8. That is a great story, RT. You must have written a great paper for the course. Music has a way of sweeping you away. I’m agnostic too (never was barmitzvah’ed) but can see myself getting carried away. Of course, I can’t sing for crap, but that’s not what’s it’s about, singing ability.
  9. I came across this site week, www.hatchards.co.uk, which is probably known to our British members. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, they have a catalogue of their favorite novels of the past 200 years. It's a very useful list so if you're looking for something to read, there's probably something on this list that you will find worthwhile.
  10. I thought it was a bit unusual but it does show how the feeling is infectious.
  11. How early would you suggest?
  12. The Mosaic Gazzette highlighted this:
  13. I see he's there in July. I want you get there one of those nights.
  14. Call Tesla!
  15. Different but similar. I can’t see Mosaic going for this.
  16. His Bag Band Bloviation is supposed to be very good although I don’t have that one. He went by the name of Deep and I recall some of his posts as being unusual.
  17. That sounds a little like some of the Selects which, for reasons unknown to me, didn’t work out.
  18. He used to post here many years ago.
  19. From Japan to Harlem A Gospel Singer is Born The former pop star TiA, after giving up on pop, has become a gospel singer, after living next door in Harlem to a church.
  20. That can happen after an emotional series. Mets got off the schneid. I think Conforto is ready to break out, hopefully. I watched a few innings of Harvey's debut with the Reds. I thought he looked pretty good, moving his pitches around well. The Reds got him out of there after 4, probably to instill confidence. That was a trick that Davey Johnson used to do, to great effect.
