I'm still not convinced about the Rangers for reasons stated earlier. However, you can ride a big gun in the playoffs and he may, as Hersheiser did for the Dodgers in 1988, get you to the promised land. Btw, the Dodgers weren't that great in 88 (the Mets and As) were far better but they had Hershiser. Maybe that is the difference as far as this Series is concerned.

This is kind of embarassing. Don't listen to this man. He knows nothing.

ESPN says the Yanks have decided to stick with Burnett in Game 4. Frankly, I'm not sure how you make that call before you know the results of Game 3, but I guess they know what they're doing. Girardi made that call before the ALCS started. The fans on WFAN are starting to freak out a little bit with this Lee thing. This was mentioned on Mike Francesa's Mike'd Up show on WNBC that follows the football game last night. The Yankee beat reporter, Sweeney Murtey, and a reporter for the Daily News realize this is the pivotal game. Sweeney was talking to Ron Darling and thought it might be similar to the Mets not wanting to face Mike Scott in game 7 of the Houston Mets 1986 series. If that's the case, they better win 3 of the next 4 games. Years ago, I heard someone say that in a tied series (e.g., 1-1), the third game is not a pivotal game because someone has to win (e.g., someone will be up or down 2-1) and that the pivotal game is actually the next game. I think that is true. If the Yanks go down 2-1, the fourth game, the Burnett game, will be THE pivotal game.

12.86 I rather enjoyed today's game, particularly because, out of necessity, I had to listen to most of it on the radio (road gig, 2.5 hour drive), AM radio at that. Talk about a primal experience on all levels.... That's a great way to enjoy a game especially when you're driving by yourself, just the way it used to be. As they like to say now, they're "painting a word picture."

Texas SF wouldn't be too scintillating. Giants yes but their other dance partner no. Low scoring games play into Giants hand since they're offensively handicapped. Philly has not done too much run wise in four games. That better change soon.

Man, sorry to hear that. Yeah, I've read about the dispute. Hope you you get to a bar to watch your team. If Yanks make it to the WS are they not going to show it in NY. There will be he'll to pay.

Well, let the second guessing begin. Pettite should have been on the mound tonight.

Hot and humid is no joke. If we ever go again, it's going to be in the fall

This team can hit but bullpen is suspect and tonight they showed it. Just because they have Lee going in game 3, that doesn't mean he's going to automatically win. He ain't Koufax man. They only won 90 or so games (not sure of the exact number) so let's not go crazy. They probably should have been up by 5 after the first but you can argue that either way I suppose. I'll give them a game but that's it. When you're up 5-0, you've got to seal the deal and this a game they had to have.

Series over. Turn off your televisions.

Looks like this one is going to drag on for a few more days, at least. Tom Hicks and George Gillett claim injunction to halt Liverpool sale I think the High Court ruled that what happened in Texas was meaningless since they had no jurisdiction. Good to see you're not going totally over the top there... :w Had his assault in the WC taken place anywhere else, he would be in jail for assault. -

I just read about the England Montenegro match. How pathetic. There is something seriously wrong there. -
This (the result) probably doesn't happen if they had Wagner.

Thanks for the headsup Tom.

Darn! I missed it, fell asleep

Agree wholeheartedly. Not the Hank I want to remember.

Quite a good article. Thanks for the link. -
6-0 last time I checked. Rays could be looking to getting some early rays

Looks like Rays are behind the 8 ball allready

I suppose you're right about Hodgson, plus they're only three points from being in tenth, not to mention it's still relatively early in the season. From what I have read Hicks is fighting. On the BBC they reported that he had re-constituted the Board and they had voted against the sale, and when the reporter pointed out that he wasn't allowed to do that per his agreements, his retort was that what lawyers and courts are for -
Didn't see the Larsen game but Halladay was pretty unbelievable. Sort of understand the point Dave made but it's still the playoffs, not to mention this is his second no hitter this year. That puts him in pretty rarified territory.

The announcers in the Yankee game are pitiful. Ron Darling is wasted with the likes of Ernie Johnson and John Smoltz; they are just terrible.
-
Because not everyone is like you and some people really enjoy it. Ditto.

That's the one I was thinking about. That's it's delayed is unfortunately not good news but I think we've heard that before, sadly.
