  1. I seem to remember that someone did this once, at least the offer anyway, but human nature, being what it is, not too many people will do this.
  2. I tried that and when I was leaving they asked me if my name was Allen Lowe?
  3. That's pretty impressive. Must be difficult to program that.
  4. Sounds like things are getting ugly. Cashman told the Times that he's a free agent, meaning he can look elsewhere if he wants to and that's he's concerned about Jeter's age, etc. while Jeter's agent says he sees Jeter as Babe Ruth. As the Times said, that's the problem. The paper also notes this is taking time away from pursuing Lee.
  5. Heard it on XM back in October. Cool stuff
  6. Cashman said it's three years at 15 million per. A lot of posturing going on but it will get done. I'm sure the 15 isn't their final offer but just opening number.
  7. Considering that Koufax & Gibson faced Aaron and Mays I don't see why you're making a such a big deal about Jackson. I loved watching Reggie, but as the all-time strikeout leader it's not like he was in the class of Aaron or Mays. Good point. Today's players would never have been able to crowd the plate against Gibson but if Gibbywas pitching today he couldn't have dusted players either, which makes the debate somewhat pointless; different times, different rules.
  8. I think Seagate are the best out there.
  9. Rolf, There are no words to express the pain that I feel for you and your daughters. I'm ver sorry. Be well. Regards, Brad
  10. That's a joke right? Useful career advice. Go out and get an arm transplant and get some of those magic beans that Jack got from the beanstalk.
  11. Had no idea. She always oozed class and I loved her smile. What a shame. Thanks for the memories.
  12. I don't really think Jeter is going anywhere. Why not ask for six years? The worst they can say is no. I also think he will bounce back and have a good year. Would be surprised if he didn't. According to yesterdays Times, the Yanks have already contacted Lee's agent. No surprise there. Also read that Posada's role will be even more limited this year. As far as my team goes, Alderson has said they won't be active as they need to get rid of some big contracts before they can do anything. Look for another ho hum year or two before they get better. No manager yet but Terry Collins I said to be a favorite. That's not going to make the fans too happy.
  13. Read that with wonderment. Can 1984 be far behind
  14. Ahh, a closet Dodger fan, maybe that s.o.b. O'Malley returned from the grave. Giants won more in NY than Dodgers did and now they both have some number of pennants and WS titles. Anything else? No, didn't think so.
  15. Man, that was great to see. The Giants still have tons of fans here in the East and Mays is God. The Polo Grounds sleeps quieter tonight. McGraw is smiling from Coogans Bluff.
  16. Say goodnight Irene.
  17. To me this was the game the Giants had to have as you didn't want to face Lee tied. Never saw Baumgarner before. His motion must be tough on batters, particularly lefthanders.
  18. Belated birthday wishes Chris.
  19. He probably should have been brought it in any event just for the work as he hasn't pitched in a few days. Really, either way Washington couldn't have been criticized. However, by not doing it at all he leaves himself open for the second guess.
  20. I think you mean the 8th but, yes, I'd have to agree you need to keep it as close as possible. You never know what's going to happen.
  21. The BBC Worldwide Service have a great 10 minute program they do daily at 750 am EST called "Witness," which is a look back at certain events whose anniversary falls on the date in question. Today, they did a very interesting program on the Dodo Bird and how it became extinct (60 years after coming in contact with our species).
  22. Think I had one about 30 years ago.
  23. Everybody has their horror stories; that's what being a fan is all about. Mine is 1988 playoffs Mets v. Dodgers, game 4: Mike bleepin' Scoscia. Couldn't sleep that whole tonight. In the sixth or seventh inning, when they were up 4-2, they had Carter on third and nobody out. Couldn't get him in. If they score, they probably would have won the game and gone up in 3-1. But they didn't and promptly lost game 5. The rest is bad history
  24. McCovey hit a smash that if Bobby Richardson, the Yankees second baseman, is one inch out of position he doesn't catch and the Giants would have won the Series.
  25. Laurie Lee: Moment of War.
