Thanks Noj but let's forget the ipod and concentrate on that image. Hmmm

This may have been discussed before so my apologies if it's repetitous. My son has an ipod and has all of his songs on our computer. My wife just got one as a present (a Nano) and would like to put her songs on it. Can you have two ipods using the same computer. His is set for automatic uploads and syncing. If possible, I would imagine hers would have to be set for manual. Thanks.

I'm generally with Chuck on this one: Did he create bop? No but he did play with one of the greatest bop bands ever. He certainly didn't create hard bop but was involved and headed some great groups. He was an influence but a pioneer is someone like Bird or Diz. I don't put him in quite that category.

I remember that it was deleted from the BN catalogue not that long after it was released. Was shocked that they pulled it that fast. I remember we had some discussion about it on the old BN board.

This sums up my attitude entirely. When I first started listening to jazz, I found Bird Flight indispensible. However, as I learned and listened more, I outgrew him and he kind of gets on my nerves now. The guy who I like to listen now in the morning is the drive time person on Tuesdays. He goes by the moniker Symphony Sid. Not sure what his last name is.

Definitely agree with this. Cool Struttin was my first Sonny album, not to mention one of my early Cds. Still love it.

He was in a very good movie, the Sergeant, made back in 1968, ahead of its time. Can't really remember seeing him in anything else but I remember that movie as being very good.

not so safe deposit boxes
Brad replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
This is actually common although these are bad examples. They're called escheat laws. If property is not claimed after awhile, the state has the right to seek and obtain the property from the holder of the property. This can often amount to uncashed checks. This is a problem for corporations and the one I work for is always dealing with this matter. Many times (more often than not), states band together and appoint a firm to recover these amounts. It's just a fact of life. -
Oscar Peterson Verve Trio Mosaic set on the horizon
Brad replied to Bluerein's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
If they can make a Peterson Mosaic, why can't we at the very least get a Three Sounds Select or even a little itty bitty CD? -

Rationality is over rated. How about that? -
Also, the more points the smaller your font will have to be and I think it will stand out more if it's easier to read.

Great underrated player. Philosophy of Urso is indeed a great LP.

Is part 2 Volume 18/19? I saw that on Amazon but it's a little pricey at $45. Volume 1 is available at CDU and just ordered it. -
FA: MJQ Complete Prestige and Pablo and Herman Select
Brad replied to Brad's topic in Offering and Looking For...
The MJQ Box and the Jimmy Smith Blue Notes end today. -
Thanks for the tips. I'll check them out.

I am looking for this Cd that was originally on Muse. It may have been available as a Japanese import although I haven't checked to see if it is. If anyone has one they'd like to sell or can point me to, I'd be obliged. If nothing turns up, next stop Hiroshi.

I like the idea of some Muse being given the Mosaic treatment. Who owns the rights to them? But speaking of Xanadu, what about a Mosaic Select for the bop lps they did. I think that would be a tremendous idea. I believe there were 6 LPs. Don't know, however, if it would be enough for a Select although maybe you could do it in a couple of Singles, if not. I'm not a big fan of free jazz but I think that would be a good idea to pull free jazz fans in.

Maybe this has been discussed before. If so, my apologies. However, it seems everytime I go on, I have to re-log in even though I've marked the "remember me" box. Any ideas why because it's a little annoying to have consistently do it.

I've listed on ebay a few CDs, including the MJQ Complete Prestige and Pablo and the Woody Herman Select. Here's the link Besides the two box sets, there are David Fathead Newman - Lone Star Legend Jimmy Smith - Live at Village Gate Oscar Peterson Plays Count Basie Kenny Burrell and John Coltrane (not RVG)
-
The set went for $311. I'm assuming this is OOP? Remember when Verve had those ridiculous sales on this box a few years back on ebay and then refused to honor most of it.

PM not sent. I'm too late

I picked up a few of these. The best of the bunch is the Burrell (a keeper) and I enjoyed Jazz Giants. As someone noted, the Smith is a little short (I think 30 minutes) and nothing special. The Plays for Basie is good Oscar but didn't blow me away (I'm not a huge Oscar fan).

Chuck is probably right but, hey, you can never have too much!
