  1. I don't know about essential but this is a great album and deserves to be in every collection. It was a revelation, when I got it. Disc One is really good, disc Two not as much but still a great collection of music.
  2. Based on that 1997 interview and one from about 3 or so years ago, you could tell there was a lot of affection and mutual respect between the two of them.
  3. Some great recordings there. Have them all mostly.
  4. Same here! Ditto that (excitedly!)
  5. On Saturday, they played the interview that Phil Schaap did with Max in 1997. Really great.
  6. So he's successful, so what. Nothing to do with his musical abilities or lack therof, however you fall on this spectrum.
  7. It brought back the memories when I was a kid of watching him and Arthur Treacher as the Ed McMahon-like sidekick. What an odd pairing. Whenever I see Charo, I always think of her and Xavier Cugat on the Merv Griffin show. What a hoot!
  8. I just got the latest SI and it shows the progression in his stats (including his weight) from his rookie year until now, more than 53 pounds. That's staggering.
  9. I haven't visited this thread or the debate for awhile but I find it laughable that it's going on. No one's mind will be changed by it, whether pro or con (and I'm definitely anti-Baroid). At any rate, it's over and he holds the record. I don't think that's debatable.
  10. I hope not. I don't need the a la carte version.
  11. Sort off topic but I get XM and listen to this station frequently. My only criticism is that they seem to repeat some of the same songs. Terrence Blanchard seems to be a favorite, a little too much so.
  12. Well, since I never say anything much of significance , losing a few posts wouldn't be a big deal.
  13. Think I've got all these except the LD and the Herbie Hancock. However, it's a great looking list. Still no Three Sounds. Oh, well.
  14. I can see the Politics Forum. Still there.
  15. Hey Berigan, You're lucky and my team is lucky. The Braves and the Mets are two of the more inept teams out there. Nobody can get out of their way. Sad. What the hell happened: talent ain't just there for each of us right now. Hey, at least the Mets didn't lose tonight; they didn't play!
  16. Never been there. Can get high cholesterol elsewhere.
  17. Nothing I really want on there except maybe the King Curtis. My first reaction is "sad" but, like Hans, as long as it pays the bills for the hardcore stuff, I have no complaints.
  18. Can't say the Jones box blows me away but might be nice.
  19. I had that problem with my car CD player. Sometimes the cds worked and sometimes they didn't. Had to eventually replay the player.
  20. How stupid is that? Make unreasonable demands and get nothing, rather than negotiate a reasonable "something" based on projected sales of a jazz CD (what might that be - maybe 3,000 worldwide). Must be the lawyer representing the estate! At least someone is beginning to see the light. why are you slamming the lawyer??? He forgot to disclose he's also a lawyer
  21. Glad the guy got nailed.
  22. Foyle's War is excellent. I have all previously issued on DVD and love them. Are these really new?
  23. I'd have to agree with Dan. If I did this, I'd be imposing my wants and interests on them. As it is, I'm always arguing with my son about who gets to play what in the car: jazz v. metal. Guess who wins I don't try to impose my musical interests on people although Rooster's motives are in the right place.
  24. Stupid ending but Jim is right, life doesn't have neat endings, it just goes on.
  25. I'd like the Bill Evans Trio 64 when it becomes available. I notice you've got it on two lists (next week and still available). What's the difference?
