  1. At ease, at ease. Oops, wrong movie. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe your brain's not that adled.
  2. Tsk, tsk. All the work you went through for that. Shame, shame as Gomer would say. Maybe the box sucks but the book looks good to me. After all the work I went through, I'm not getting rid of mine.
  3. The thread that refuses to die is back. I received my box today. What an incredibly studid idea for packaging. The metal case is lame and so are the holders for the cds and the book. There's some rust and one if the cds has some scratches. I'll be tossing that metal case and buying cd cases. You may now resume your normal programming.
  4. Hate to see it if Chuck got really mad.
  5. I think some people who quit did ok like Stan Levey. Didn't Benny Golson do ok when he was away from the music scene. It must be rough nowadays to have make your living from jazz.
  6. That would be too much of a risk for me even though it's up to $61.
  7. No, they gave me a Duster in '73. Great car. And it only cost $3,000 (a lot then).

I need to post a correction. I meant the Roost Mosaic set. Also his last albums, Last Sessions, also on Muse, are really good. Can't say enough good things about Just In Case You Forgot... Tremendous album.
  9. This is a fantastic, fantastic set. One of my favorites and I think the sound is fabulous. The notes by his widow are not too great but that's a minor annoyance. If you don't have, get it.

Che, His Roulette albums are very good as are his Verve albums. My favorite period of his is from the late 40s until he was through with Verve. There is a Roulette Mosaic and it's great. In the late 70s, he had a rejuvenation since he had a rep of just walking through a lot of dates and sessions. Of course, his just showing up is better than 90% of other people. Of his later stuff, I recommend highly Endgame Brilliance: Tune Up, originally on the Muse label and reissued out by 32 Jazz. It's some fine playing. All of the material re-issued by 32 Jazz is fine and since Savoy acquired the Muse catalogue, some of that is now being reissued by them.
  11. Happy Birthday Danny, I'm only 5 behind you . We need you back, we don't have enough controversy
  12. I'm offering for sale before ebay the following Mosaics: Buck Clayton Mosaic (CD). Art Pepper Mosaic (LP), not the Select. Please PM me if interested.
  13. Our number's unlisted so nothing turned up. However, my mother's isn't and a lot turned up. Then I punched in my name and I found out that I was also a pastor at a church (not kidding) but then I also found that Alan Lankin had thanked me as well as many others for giving an addition/correction back in 2000 or so.
  14. So? It's still a good date.
  15. Name me a buyer who has patience. Aren't too many.
  16. I don't agree that it should be visible to members only. If you're gonna keep it, keep it but without special rules. If you're going to make special rules, then get rid of it.
  17. I guess we're sticking with the smilies for now. The add reply and other buttons seem a little strange but no biggie.
  18. Well, I'm listening to disc one of Seven Steps to Heaven and I can't disagree with you. It's also a lot more convenient sometimes. Have you ripped those 18 discs of Bill Evans yet ?
  19. Too much Lazaro.
  20. I got it on ebay a couple of years ago. I'm sure I didn't pay more than $20. I think it's a darn good date. FWIW, here's the AMG review: This long-lost Lee Morgan session was not released for the first time until it was discovered in the Blue Note vaults by Michael Cuscuna in 1984; it has still not been reissued on CD. Originals by Cal Massey, Duke Pearson ("Is That So") and Walter Davis, in addition to a couple of surprising pop tunes ("What Not My Love" and "Once in My Lifetime") and Morgan's title cut, are well-played by the quintet (which includes the trumpeter/leader, Hank Mobley on tenor, pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Billy Higgins). Much of the music is reminiscent of The Jazz Messengers and that may have been the reason that it was lost in the shuffle for Morgan was soon investigating modal-oriented tunes. Despite its neglect, this is a fine session that Lee Morgan and hard bop fans will want.
  21. I'm glad Aric's thinking these heavy musical thoughts.
  22. Why, it's only $75. Oh, damn, I forgot too include shipping. Screw it.
  23. Glad you liked it. I think the packaging is quite nifty on this one. I heard about this cd from Phil Schaap several years ago on his Bird show.
  24. I think this might violate the policy of the Board and I don't think Jim would care for it. See this thread.
