One of his best. If you can find it, get the Mosaic.

That's pretty fantastic but what I want to know is why when I clean out my closets I find junk and when you clean out yours, you find pearls?
-
I don't know if it's fixed or not but if you go to Benny Golson or Art Farmer, you'll find the set.

The Farmers and Great Jazz Trio will be loookin' good.

The new "Pay-It-Forward" Music Giveaway Thread!!!
Brad replied to Parkertown's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Very good cd. You won't be disappointed. -
I don't agree with your premise. There is some very moving fantastic solo piano albums out there. For starters, pick up some Art Tatum and see if you don't agree. A good place to start is Piano Starts Here. Then go onto his Pablo solo work, Pretty fantastic stuff, better than his group work. After that, try some Earl Hines.

I don't know about you but I (and many others I'm sure) need to discrete about my organissimo reading. More basic research has to come at home.

I voted for Other, not because those sessions aren't good, but I've been listening lately to the complete village vanguards from 1968 that was just reissued in Japan and even though the sets are repetitous. the music is not. That one gets my vote. Philly Joe is fantastic on these dates.

Temper, temper, Michael. When I said time and werewithal, I meant that since some of us are doing this at work, we probably don't have that much time to look at your site or other sites. We try to fit reading and posting in when we can.
-
I don't think we need to get heavy handed with your first comment Mike. Folks may not know it's there or not have the time or werewithal to access your site. Regarding Michael Weiss' comment, with all due respect, a group of people can only have a reunion when all the original group gets together.
-
Not revolutionary but very enjoyable and fine music from that time.
-
Sorry to hear about this. RIP.
-
I guess you had to sacrifice some Japanese cds for that
-
Pretty cool Scott.
-
Oh, this is a beautiful set, a great idea by Norman Granz. $23 is ok and I think '94 sounds about right. The set was well put together as a reissue. Don't wait. Get it.
-
I was never good at woodworking (I think I'm the only person who failed it in 9th grade, but it never bothered me) and if truth be told, I ain't too handy around the house either. That too doesn't bother me neither.
-
Mine's in the shop right now (I'm using my mother's; she's got dialup and it's a drag). I think my son's games messed it up. Hopefully all back up by the weekend.
-
As a last point, I think overall this is a good set. I can't say I like everything but then there aren't that many artists whose output I universally like. I think it's worth picking up despite the naysayers.
-
I just noticed this thread but it looks like it's back. Pity. Kill the bastard.
-
All of these Time reissues are fantastic. All worth picking up. Faves are the Little and Bennie Green, plus the Turrentine. Heck, I like 'em all.
-
Oops, sorry, offer cancelled
-
$250 and ya got a deal.
-
What daya want for $99 you cheapo. You got 18 cds that you screwed Verve out of More than I got so far
-
Well put. Nuts! Beat me to it! Maybe not god-like but good, smarties
