Oh, this is a beautiful set, a great idea by Norman Granz. $23 is ok and I think '94 sounds about right. The set was well put together as a reissue. Don't wait. Get it.

I was never good at woodworking (I think I'm the only person who failed it in 9th grade, but it never bothered me) and if truth be told, I ain't too handy around the house either. That too doesn't bother me neither.

Mine's in the shop right now (I'm using my mother's; she's got dialup and it's a drag). I think my son's games messed it up. Hopefully all back up by the weekend.

As a last point, I think overall this is a good set. I can't say I like everything but then there aren't that many artists whose output I universally like. I think it's worth picking up despite the naysayers.

All of these Time reissues are fantastic. All worth picking up. Faves are the Little and Bennie Green, plus the Turrentine. Heck, I like 'em all.

I can't say I'm particularly crazy about the whole set but I think the Xmas music is really god. Of course, if you hate Xmas music, you may want to pass it up. BTW, have you heard Bird doing White Christmas. It's a classic, man.

It seems we've lost two fine members because of all the sniping going on here. I know this has been discussed ad infinitum but I think this needs to stop. When you lose someone like Hans, there's something wrong. We all need to adopt a civil tone and avoid a condescending, holier than thou, I know it all and you don't attitude, or we're bound to suffer in the long run.

All of them are great sonically and musically. Not a bad one in the bunch. If you forced me to choose, I'd rate Moanin, Night at Birdland and the Bohemias as my faves.

I might be off about this but the Jazz Messengers was a reference to a group that Art Blakey was in the late 40s called the Messengers, which itself, I believe, was a reference to the prophet Muhammmad.
