  1. This is a policy Jim annnounce on Day 1 and I've scrupulously followed. If I think someone wants something, I pm them. A reminder every now and then doesn't hurt.
  2. Lou Donaldson - Say It Loud! This really rocks.
  3. Charlie Parker At the Royal Roost Massey Hall Jazz Messengers Night at Birdland and at the Bohemia Jazz Messengers at Olympia in Paris Sonny Stitt at the DJ Lounge Sonny Stitt Just in Case You Forgot How Bad He Is --- and he was bad!
  4. Amen to that brother. The sound on this is so amazing, it blows me away. But what's incredible is the music, how crisp and fresh it is. This only whets my apptetite for the Mosaic coming out. It should be just amazing.
  5. yea I've got the JJ, Parlan and some of the Chambers (which came out as individual CDs years ago...) Can't quite get into the Pepper Adams/Bryd stuff... I can't figure out that statement. This is some great stuff. Not on this set, but have you heard Pepper's 10 to 4 at the Five Spot. Amazing! I never heard anybody make this statement before. When it comes to baritone, it's Pepper for me, no slight intended to anyone else. This is your last Mosaic of the year? Yeah, right and I've got a bridge to sell you
  6. I've got a semi box set, it's Proper's The Engine Room, four cd set of jazz drumming up through the bop period. The catch is that there is no volume 1. When I got it they included an extra modern drumming cd, instead of New Orleans and Chicago Styles. The other 3 cds are good though. Includes the slip case and booklet. Pm me if interested.
  7. I think several of us will be doing that at the least. But I don't have high hopes. I don't think ebay will take the side of a big seller over a couple of buyers. After all they get paid for sales. Even if they do, I'm not sure what the remedies are. Maybe they'll warn UMG, who knows. They'll probably suggest you go through the mediation thing. And let's face it, are any of us going to sue over $99? I doubt it. They'll obviously be getting mega negative feedback but they've got a few already so I don't think that going to worry UMG too much. Kevin, I don't think you should think this is your fault. They might have discovered it eventually anyway. So, it's just coincidence.
  8. Edward, Thanks for posting that. The Donovan case is quite interesting but I think it may be difficult to surmount because of this concept of unconsionability. The best thing going in our favor not only did they accept the funds but that they had already completed several transactions before they attempted to rescind the last two or three.
  9. There is a concept at law called mistake. It has been many years since I studied it but my recollection is that if there is a mutual mistake, that is both parties were mistaken as to the item (Verve made a mistake and we knew that they did -- the price should have been more), that's a voidable transaction. However, if it's unilateral (Verve made the mistake but we thought that we were buying it for $99 and that was the price), it's a good deal and can't be undone. If I've said it correctly, that's the theory. Whether it holds up is another story. One factor that people should point out that they delivered the sets at this price and they shouldn't be allowed to profit from their mistake. It would be unequal application if some received and others didn't.
  10. I got an email this morning saying it would be shipped in a business day (Monday) so we'll see.
  11. Jeez, I hope I get my set. I'll be ticked if I don't. I checked my paypal account and I haven't gotten a refund so I hope they'll honor it. If not, I'll be sending them a legal type email/letter.
  12. It's there. I just think you need your prescription strengthened
  13. Somehow I don't think on a conventional player, SACD is going to sound any better than a K2. If you're going to get a SACD player, I'd probably get the SACD however.
  14. For those with glue residue on the discs, I found that the glue can be rubbed off if you do it carefully... I hope to get mine in a week. How or what did you use to get rid of the glue, in case mine comes with it?
  15. I received Say It Loud today and this being my first Water release and the first time I ever heard this date I think they did a very nice job. Sounds great. Lou sounds good, almost like early 60s Lou (not impling criticism here) but I really like Blue on this record. I also like the liner notes (original and new ones). Also the quality of the paper used is good, not flimsy. If you're into the grease, you need to get this.
  16. And that's the way it is, February 25, 2005. This is ..... signing off
  17. While these stories are great, I'm not sure I get the raison d'etre of this thread nor etherbored's post. The premise of the Selects is to use the original liner notes and only have original notes where none existed (i.e. unissued session). That being the case, nothing to get mad at Mosaic about.
  18. Someone should grab that cd from Big Al. It's very nice.
  19. Very nice cover and congratulations David.
  20. I've got 43. Seems like a lot to me. According to Marco's list, there's 126 total although I have most of the others in Japanese.
  21. What school are you going to?
  22. I think the only times we're not is to people selling with their first few posts but I think lately it's more of a joke like "watch out for Chuck" than anything else.
  23. Damn!
  24. I like the Kicker and I happen to have San Francisco (Harold Land), which is a favorite. What's a paycheck date Chuck? Do ya mean just show up to get the cash and go through the motions, without any attempt to make great music?
  25. We're a warm, really, really warm crowd here
