Our number's unlisted so nothing turned up. However, my mother's isn't and a lot turned up. Then I punched in my name and I found out that I was also a pastor at a church (not kidding) but then I also found that Alan Lankin had thanked me as well as many others for giving an addition/correction back in 2000 or so.

I don't agree that it should be visible to members only. If you're gonna keep it, keep it but without special rules. If you're going to make special rules, then get rid of it.

Well, I'm listening to disc one of Seven Steps to Heaven and I can't disagree with you. It's also a lot more convenient sometimes. Have you ripped those 18 discs of Bill Evans yet ?

I got it on ebay a couple of years ago. I'm sure I didn't pay more than $20. I think it's a darn good date. FWIW, here's the AMG review: This long-lost Lee Morgan session was not released for the first time until it was discovered in the Blue Note vaults by Michael Cuscuna in 1984; it has still not been reissued on CD. Originals by Cal Massey, Duke Pearson ("Is That So") and Walter Davis, in addition to a couple of surprising pop tunes ("What Not My Love" and "Once in My Lifetime") and Morgan's title cut, are well-played by the quintet (which includes the trumpeter/leader, Hank Mobley on tenor, pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Billy Higgins). Much of the music is reminiscent of The Jazz Messengers and that may have been the reason that it was lost in the shuffle for Morgan was soon investigating modal-oriented tunes. Despite its neglect, this is a fine session that Lee Morgan and hard bop fans will want.

Glad you liked it. I think the packaging is quite nifty on this one. I heard about this cd from Phil Schaap several years ago on his Bird show.

I stopped by Scotti's Record Shop yesterday in Morristown, NJ to pick up some cd cases and there was a sign there that I found pretty amazing: "Load Your iPod Buy It! Burn It! Return It! Get 70% back in store credit on any CD. Good on New and Used Cds." While I'm sure many people may be burning cds illegally, I've never heard of a retailer actually promoting a burning practice. I can't think the record companies would be very happy about this.

Have you tried talking to your employer about this. I'm sure they must have hired non-UK people before so maybe they have information they can give you or point you in the right direction. I do know that there are specific tax laws that apply to americans getting paid overseas. I wrote a paper about it about 20 years ago but have not kept up on the topic.

No offense but that's not saying a lot. If he was doing Louie, Louie, I'd be happy. I realize times are different and that while I look askance at rap, etc., my parents probably did the same with the Beatles. However, as to what passes today for musical expression is just way removed from what I think it used to be.

I think that's pretty, pretty sad, just a general reflection of how far this culture has sunk. If parents are providing a proper education and monitoring things, you hope this doesn't happen. You say "hope" because it's very hard to control kids nowadays. As my son say, "you can't force me" so if you've got a determined child, it's very hard to get them to do what you think may be the right thing. In my view, what that kid is doing is not the right thing.

I can't comment on the 2 you mentioned but I have seen individual cds of th 44-49 sessions. You might want to check ebay. If there is, I'd pick some up.

That's pretty fantastic but what I want to know is why when I clean out my closets I find junk and when you clean out yours, you find pearls?

I don't know if it's fixed or not but if you go to Benny Golson or Art Farmer, you'll find the set.

The Farmers and Great Jazz Trio will be loookin' good.
