  1. Thanks for the feedback on the dance sessions. Doesn't sound spectacular but what the heck I'm ordering this anyway.
  2. Can some post some info about the Dance Sessions. AMG had no meaningful information about them.
  3. It's all pretty screwed up and I wouldn't mind it but for those screwed up cds. I'll just settle for getting the $99 plus shipping back. Early on in this thread, I said dealing with them wasn't too much fun. I should have listened to myself.
  4. From Universal Music Shop, in reply to my email, asking for an exchange: Dear Brad, Due to concerns over the product quality of this item, the entire inventory is being pulled for inspection and listings halted until further notice. 5. I hate to go both ways on this since it makes me look pretty indecsive but there may be a few but not many. A few years ago they released the Lost Sessions disc which, frankly, in my opinion, wasn't that good. Those were some sessions that probably should have stayed in the can.
  6. Dan, I was referring to the rejected sessions but in any event you may be right although except for those two sessions, nothing else rejected has, I believe (and I could be wrong), been issued. Somehow, I don't believe that the Blakey session could be that bad. This is probably a weird way of doing business but what if Micheal put on the Mosaic or BN site cuts from some of these rejected sessions and let fans vote on the quality. Not so much as the deciding factor as to whether it should be issued but as a factor in helping him decide if it should be issued. That might not be a bad idea.
  7. I could take the rust if the cds were in playable condition.
  8. Unfortunately, it is MC's decision that counts but I believe his view is that if it was rejected it shouldn't come out even though it may not be bad musically. I almost think it's a reflex opinion on his part. I'm sure that there are several rejected sessions that could be reissued such as the Art Blakey sessions talked about elsewhere. MC is looking to defend Alfred's place in history and not release material that Alfred didn't see fit to release. Not a bad concept but to adhere to it unflexingly doesn't seem to serve anybody. And what's wrong with Jazz Kat wanting to hear it. Absolutely nothing.
  9. I can't say I am or am not a big fan but I have the Lem Winchester album on argo and it's pretty fantastic. I think if you dig the Sounds, you'll dig this.
  10. I think I'd do the ebay route. Weizen just sold his and you may be able to get some people who really wanted the box or maybe you could ask him to do a second chance offer for you and you'd get the money quicker.
  11. Looks like your right about only getting a refund. I received the email but I will pursue. I'd like to get the replacement set. We'll see.
  12. Johnny Richards and Basie are musts for me. Don't really know Freddie Slack so I'll wait on this to see reaction.
  13. Still nothing about Basie on the Mosaic site. It's not unusual for companies to share sales in different spheres (sometimes U.S. sales v. International, for example) so some sharing here wouldn't be that atypical.
  14. I don't for the most part like to see anybody leave and I'm real glad Hans is back. I hope Brownie is too soon. And if I contributed to the ugliness of the Board last week, my apologies to you all.
  15. I examined this great package today and it's bad enough that it's rusty but two of the cds had scratches and two had gouges. So I said, that's it. I left a message for customer service, not really expecting any satisfaction. While I was out, I got a message saying the rust was unacceptable as well as the scratches and that they would give a full refund or a replacement and would investigate the rust. How about that!
  16. What was it about the Select that didn't move you?
  17. Joe Pass is an ok set, not one of my faves. Johnny Smith I'd take a pass on myself. I picked up Moonlight in Vermont that was put out last year and as a one disc affair, it's ok. But to have a Mosaic of that would be way too much.
  18. You have a good sense of humor
  19. What's a reasonable offer? I'm willing to be reasonable. Something more than $99 but obviously less than $207.

This material is in print on a couple of labels out of the EU (where the copyright has run out). There isn't a whole lot of sales potential with them when these cheap copies are floating around. Sales would be tough. Who would pay $35-45 for a three CD set when you can get most of it for about $25 from Proper, Definitive, et al? Kevin PS. I E-mailed Michael Cuscuna about the "Consequence/High Frequency" two-fer idea. PPS. A good friend of mine tells me that his two CDs of Kenny Cox material (complete) only clocks in at 80:10. An early fade and it should all fit. It's either that or cut a track. Any votes for the track to cut? Kevin, That's true. Too bad. Fortunately, I have it.

Positive response here too. Love Jazz Red Hot and Cool.
  22. 7:45 am Saturday morning. Only 8 members on. Pretty quiet place.

Another great idea someday would be reissuing the Quebec-Hardee Mosaic. Not that easy to come by in compact disc and a truly great Mosaic. Only three cds.
  24. The Count Basie Story that was issued on Roulette last year is great. Also love Birk's Works, one of my better acquisitions.
  25. Did you see the price Weizen got. Damn! $207. Not bad. Guess I owe him an apology cause I'm going to do the same thing myself. Hope he doesn't mind if I steal his description.
