  1. Amen, to her being beautiful. Such a beautiful face.
  2. It's a big tent here so I guess that's cool. You like it but I don't. Of course, does anybody want to buy this?
  3. A couple of things. I'm distressed that deus62 and Hans are no longer posting here. They've made some positive contributions. However, my experience is that on a board like this posters will come and go, even some good ones. It's unfortunate but that's reality. On the other hand, I think the core remains here and that's positive. I also agree with what b3-er said. Let's try to be nice. We're probably all guilty of this at one time or another. And Guy was right, this thread is probably the nastiest I've seen here in a while, probably outside of the Political forum, which I generally avoid. It's not my view of what a jazz board should be. But I fought and lost that fight so I'll let it go. Remember, it's nice to be nice to the nice
  4. Che Whatever the hell you mean.
  5. I too for the most part ignore the political board so I don't have to read the kind of crap that equates zionism with nazism.
  6. But did it? I seem to remember coming across a stupidly high-priced lp of this album a few years ago? I meant as a cd.
  7. You're not doing yourself any service here Allen. Where's the link to the so called Nazi reference?
  8. That's why your "sponsor" is brought through the courtesy of love
  9. You know, I don't know how many times a year we debate this stupid issue but it never goes anywhere. If people want to buy to sell on ebay, who cares? It's a free country and they can do what they darn please. If you're going to complain that it's just people with money doing that and they're ruining it for those that don't have money, that's just the way of the world. It's the golden rules: he who has the gold rules. If you don't want to play the ebay victim or pay high prices, buy your sets now.
  10. I, unfortunately, never looked at the thread Tony referred to but I find it disturbing that someone would denigrate the talent of a person that has recently passed away. What I'm thinking here if of the thread that made fun of Leslie Gourse. Granted, she may not have done the best job at serious writing, but to make fun of her after she's died is not only in poor taste in my opinion but ghoulish and people who engaged in that should take a serious look at themselves in my opinion.
  11. While I'm sure you meant nothing by it, I kind of object to calling what Blue Note or other labels did formulaic. While BN and other labels did things in a certain way, they didn't always stick to that or reject an idea because it didn't fit into how they wanted to do things. This recording doesn't follow a previous pattern but I don't think it's particularly good either. They're are a lot of rock guitar licks in here that don't find particularly appealing (this is probably not in my $ interest to criticize this recording but $13 one way or the other ain't gonna break the bank) and while Ray Draper's tuba is interesting, with the organ it's a little odd. This was a 1970 recording and at the time the label was starting to go down. This was probably an attempt to rock (not jazz it up ) and I just don't think it works particularly well. There's a reason it stayed in the can. It probably should have stayed there.
  12. Might as well be honest. If there's no interest, i'll try the ebay route where I won't be as forthright.
  13. I have also heard it's great. One day soon.
  14. Yup, it's not what I call hard core grease, it's more rockish and tried to be contemporary. Not what I really cared for. On the other hand, Say It Loud, that's a great release.
  15. What's the point of a site like that? Must be run by eye doctors.
  16. For sale, on Blue Note, just released by Water Records, and played only once. $13.00 (including shipping) to a US address. Will ship overseas. Please PM me if interested.

    March 1st RVG

    I think McMaster stole 'em
  18. Although I'm listening enjoying to the lp, I don't think EMI would be too happy about this.
  19. Hats off to tjobbe. A tremendous cd all around. One of my favorites on that cd is Social Call.
  20. Jim and I are of a mind on this. This is definitely worth picking up. It's good Hank but hurting I would say.
  21. Maybe Allen with all his royalties can buy me a set or two
  22. NOW I have. Actually, Brad, although Lee recorded it, a little research on the net has just revealed that the song was written by the man I saw live last weekend, Benny Golson. Lucky you. Was he in Philly?
  23. I think it's about time to kill this thread. This has gone long enough
  24. Have you heard of Lee's song, Reggie of Chester?
  25. Better talk to Ronnie of Philly or (a la Hank) Ronnie of Chester Hank? Chester? Oops, I meant to a la Lee, not a la Hank.
