  1. Mine wasn’t forced per se but I would have lost money on my pension plan had I stayed on so I opted for retirement. About a year and a half later, they started “reducing headcount,” as they call it, so I probably would have had no choice at that point.
  2. This seemed to be one of his better articles.
  3. I ordered the Dizzy record from Amazon but instead received the Oscar Peterson one. They’re sending me a replacement but told me to keep the Oscar one. Cool!
  4. Coincidentally, just read it. Súper article. I really like Russonello’s writing.
  5. The SEC has killed Ackman’s SPAC idea so his hedge fund will do the deal.
  6. Turns out that Rojas was suspended for less than a few; only a couple as in two, which he will serve today and tomorrow.
  7. A few is five in my book but probably on that magnitude. I’m sure the coaches and the players talked about it. At the end of the day they scored an important win after a bullpen failure the night before. Hopefully, this will get Conforto going.
  8. Well, they won the game, that’s all that counts. Luis will probably get a few games fir bumping the umpire. Glad he showed some fire although he’s done a pretty good job this year, with all the injuries they’ve had.
  9. Agree with Clunky and even if you don’t fully agree, he had a very long career. Hope he enjoys his retirement.
  10. At times Italy seemed to have some Spanish in them (and I have read that Mancini was trying to meld Spanish concepts with Italian football) but then they would become a little impatient. To England possession seemed like a dirty word, rather than working the ball up the field.
  11. This is obviously going to penalties. Probably England’s best chance.
  12. Bought the Gems of Jazz years ago from the Jazz Record Center in NY. Not sure I ever listened to it.
  13. Several should have been shown red. I hate going to penalties right after 90. Perhaps bringing back sudden death.
  14. With cynical tackles and players pushing other down? It was a terrible display. When they actually played, the display was good.
  15. The match didn’t lack for passion and was the usual chippy match match between these two. I’m actually surprised a few reds weren’t handed out. Congrats to Messi to finally winning one. ‘Bout time.
  16. Conmebol (the South American football federation) does a terrible job at promoting their games, at least in the US. It was only through a Spanish site that I found out that the championship was being decided tonight.
  17. I purchased It Must Schwing and received it today. I purchased the 2 disk DVD version and it only plays in my Laptop. Probably should have purchased the Blu Ray but the result would probably be the same. At any rate, the Directors Cut is very good and I like the animation that fills in the gaps in actual documentation. The $37, in my opinion, is well worth it.
  18. The Bird in LA record seems to have disappeared from Record Store Day’s website although the cd version still seems on track for a July 30 release.
  19. Spain lack a finisher like Kane or Ronaldo. Obviously you can’t invent them out of thin air. Perhaps over time Morata will become that. Some of the players who advanced to the semis of the Under 21 Championship were on this team so it gives you plenty of hope for the future. I’ve seen a little bit of the Copa America but it seems sterile compared to the Euros and no crowds only reinforces that impression.
