Based on recent statistics, that’s not necessarily true.

US MUSIC FANS SPENT MORE ON VINYL THAN CD LAST YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1986
(That is the way the last article appeared. No shouting intended)
You should have seen the goings on with Yusuf Lateef’s Eastern Sounds which was released by Craft in April as a one step and limited to 1,000 copies. When Craft opened it for purchase it was gone in two minutes. Copies are now selling on eBay in the $300-400 range. Craft has promised to increase the quantities on future one steps.

Sam is a one person company, Fred Thomas. As stated in his website it’s a non-profit company. From his website: “This non-profit label is devoted to reissuing jazz records recorded and produced in France during the 50’s and 60’s.” Several of his recent re-issuances are repressing of records that have gone out of stock so he’s not reissuing a lot. His re-issuances seem more like a labor of love. Making money is obviously not his objective.
About Sam Records
As of tomorrow, NJ no longer requires that you wear a mask indoor, including gyms. Since no vaccine is 100% effective, when I go to the gym on Monday I will continue to wear a mask, at least most of the time, even though I’m fully vaccinated.
Acoustic Sounds through Analogue Productions is working with the Verve labels to reissue this material. I’ve purchased three of these reissues and the sound is spectacular, with beautiful glossy tip on jackets. The price may not be to everyone’s liking but at $35 I think it’s well worth it. Impulse couldn’t do it any better.
Incidentally, all these audiophile pressings sell out quickly so if you want one, I wouldn’t delay. It’s not that they go out of print but that QRP (as well as other pressing plants) are backed up and you will wait awhile for them to come back in print.
Karel Gott’s version reminds me of something I would have seen in a Eurovision concert when I lived in Spain.
That myth was debunked a long time ago. There are many books on the topic but Wolfram Wette’s The Wehrmacht: History, Myth, Reality is particularly good.
