It never made sense to me to wish a dead person Happy Birthday. Instead, itās better to note that this woukd have been the anniversary of their birth. Tuesday would have been my fatherās 105th birthday (had he not died of a heart attack at the age of 56). I will simply note to myself that it would have been his 105th birthday

Kenny Burrell - On View At The Five Spot Cafe (Complete?)
Brad replied to Kevin Bresnahan's topic in Re-issues
I posted the question about the additional tracks being rejected tracks and this is the reply from Joe Harley on FB: āAlfred approved and sequenced the original 5 track album. Later, after Alfred had passed, Michael Cuscuna added three great additional tracks to the CD version of the original. Michael was a dear friend of mine and we discussed this reissue before he passed. The additional 6 tracks are very worthy of being released. You can hear one of them now (āThe Take Offā) I did not include takes where there are technical problems like the tape running out or tape starting halfway through. I did not include one take because Michael and I agreed it was not worthy of release.ā I donāt have the US re-issue, just the 1993 TOCJ, which only includes the original five. -

You say it irks you that itās called complete when it may not be but earlier in the thread you said you planned to buy the cd. Isnāt that slightly contradictory? -

Why donāt you ask Joe Harley about this on FB? -
RSD can be sold online the next day. You will be able to find them on Discogs, usually at the same price. The RSD thread on Hoffman is quite useful as many people will tell you who has what leftover Iāve found many a title that way You can also find them on RSD Market, which has a lot of older titles at good prices.

The issue date for all formats is April 11. I will probably purchase the vinyl, particularly if the cd is in a digipak. -
If he has a monster season, which I doubt, he will find suitors. Iām sure Mets are hoping he has a good season so they can return to the playoffs and so he opts out; they wish to sign Vlady.

Sorry to hear that. RIP. -
Just finished this terrific book.

I picked up the Wald book too and am enjoying it. I am also on a Dylan binge. Iāve also been listening to https://abobdylanprimer.com, a podcast devoted to Dylan, although I think the host is a wee bit over the top.

How did you like it. I thought it was terrific. Might go see it again this week.

I stopped reading him a couple of years ago. He just goes on and on. Same here. Never had any interest. If I need to look something up, I will go to YT. I have several Substack subscriptions but maybe one or two are paying. No way Iām paying for the rest. Some Substack writers seem to indulge in long posts to justify their subscriber fee. Iām constantly cutting and adding new ones. Theyāre all chasing a $.
