  1. you know, that's the thing with meds. different people have such widely different reactions, so you can never be sure. now, if I take the meds, then everything is oh so nice, and peaceful, and mellow, and serene, and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  2. here's a recent snapshot of my waiting room. the fellow on the right is one of my more successful cases.* * treatment outcome not guaranteed. individual results may vary.
  3. my patients think so. but then again, they're
  4. you really know how to hurt a narcissist. but thanks for the fresh start.
  5. GA, are you implying that our al is hung like a....well, you know.
  6. yes, over a comic strip. i think you were too young to appreciate bloom's social and political appeal. think of it as a more bizarre, and imo more entertaining, version of doonesbury. btw, i'm no fan of billy joel, but the alto solo in the tune you despise is beautifully played by phil woods.
  7. dude, your personalities should really get together when you decide to post something.
  8. i like perez quite a bit, but do you really need that much prado?
  9. it looks like this latest coupon is only good for in-store purchases. given their dismal jazz stock, i only use coupons that can be used on borders.com.
  10. dude, you have quite an attitude problem. first, you ask the community for feedback, but at the same time you make it clear to us that you don't believe anything the seller has told you, and have already made up your mind that you've been screwed and won't ever do business with him again. then you receive a lot of feedback that the seller is honest and has a good history here, and are encouraged to call or email the owner, who is a member of the community. so what do you do? you publicly call alan out in this thread. you are sarcastic as hell, call him a liar, accuse him of treating you with utter disrespect, then suggest that he save his deceitful business practices for people whose musical tastes aren't as advanced as your own. Oh, and i love the "i'm not angry, i'm just confused tag" at the end, proving that you are in fact guilty of the insincerity that you accuse alan of showing toward you. what's the matter peter? do people plot to screw you behind your back? are you repeatedly not given the respect that you so richly deserve, given your superior taste in music? do you long to be a superhero, exposing the crimes of others when you determine that "the jig is up?" why don't you grow up a little bit? if you ask the community a question, have the decency to listen to and consider the answers, even when they conflict with your previously-held beliefs. and don't use the board to confront another member about transactions that occur off the board. mutual respect, rather than unanimous agreement, is the key to building and enjoying a community like ours. now excuse me while i don my flame-retardant jumpsuit for what i expect will be a thoughtful and considered reply.
  11. the label is currently having a sale: cds are $10 each during the month of November
  12. this album cover holds sentimental value for me. my brother used to call me "skid mark" when my parents were out of listening range.
  13. yeah, the china starts shaking in the cupboard with that one.
  14. permit me to state the obvious. the reason i believe we have encouraged selling among established members is trust. someone who takes the time and effort to become a part of a community is, in theory, less likely to rip you off than someone who pops in for no other reason than to make money. if a member fails to live up to his part of a transaction, he risks being pressured by his peers on the board to make it right or to leave the community. that might not sound like a big deal to an outsider, but i think it can be fairly effective for members who are invested. frankly, i don't care for the double standard practiced by some members, i.e., if a newbie is selling interesting titles at a good price then it okay, but someone asking too much for ordinary cds is almost certainly in for a rash of shit (or a shit-rash?). personally, i don't have a need for dealers coming here just to hawk their wares. i usually can find most of the titles on my want list if i'm patient and take the time to look around. at the same time, i no longer feel the need to criticize dealers who do come here just to sell, because it's obvious some members are okay with it. for example, jazzmusicdepot continues to do business here, even though he has dismissed our repeated encouragement to become a "part of the community." maybe it's time for jim, randy, and joe to decide what's cool and what's not so we can stop having this same discussion every time a newbie dealer enters the scene.
  15. be a grown-up and thrown on a sweater, a pair of chinos, and some loafers.
