  1. Listening to disc 1 with disc 2 on deck.
  2. Fantastic! This is exactly in my wheelhouse as it were.
  3. Great Quinichette! Thank you for posting this.
  4. There shouldn't have been any surprises, but the schedule for maintenance was deemed more flexible by the workers as the client/friend was out of town. The client/friend uses this crew as a part of a business venture and, it turns out, is somewhat exasperated with the Pandemic related strictures on her business. This has been a challenging situation.
  5. The worst part (so far) is the fact that she has only been away from our house a couple of times since very early March and was unprepared for the red flag effect that a facemask can engender among certain sections of the population.
  6. But one can find oneself in a difficult situation as did Mrs. Duckworth last week. She was swimming at an out of town friend's house when unmasked landscapers arrived. They seemed to take it as a personal affront that Mrs. Duckworth was wearing a mask and after several tense minutes as she gathered her things to leave, one of the fellows intentionally coughed on her.
  7. This thread has done so much to untangle those box sets; otherwise, they would definitely have continued to gather dust.
  8. Today-I'm going with the Cootie Williams elements of this box.
  9. What really got me was Eddie Bert doing Flamingo. Doug Mettome and Roy Eldridge on here.
  10. This looks really good and I bet I will love it.
  11. This thread has been so helpful in straightening out the confusing Tito Puente Complete RCA box sets. I've been using the excellent research here to make playlists that actually make sense. Thank you.
  12. I was just going to put this one on. It's a favorite.
  13. I'm quite interested in Life Is Round by Compost as it has local (Memphis) legend and my one-time teacher Ed Finney on guitar. I fail to find it all that compelling despite my interest in the personel.
  14. My Sun Ra listening has shifted: I used to like the exotica from the early records, but now I'm really enjoying the more boppish and blueish stuff especially when John Gilmore plays. This one made me literally jump this morning-not something that happens much these days.
  15. I really love hearing Louis do Sleepy Time Down South, but when I hear Benny Goodman do it, I am uncomfortable.
  16. Charles Brackeen's Worshippers Come Nigh is amazing as well. Excellent array of music on this test!
  17. It took decades before I caught the "joke" that every time he says "Strictly Commercial" someone plays the first notes from Midnight Sun.
  18. Thanks to previous discussions on this site and a strong recommendation from Mr. Felser, I procured this and happily dug it today
  19. This is the one I go to regularly.
