Another spin. Really diggin' the first seven tracks from 1951, even if there are three takes of Bird Song, they could stand to be three different tracks. No piano on those tracks, and some very pre-Ornette-like licks sprinkled in there. Wow, very Interesting document. So glad to have this.

Wow. Never even heard of that Taylor/Murray title. Regret selling the Rene Thomas CD, but I needed to sell off part of my collection to survive while in college back in the 90's.

Byrd flyes high tonight

Have both, and I really do like Ayler's Impulse! output. That Trane LP sleeve hangs on my wall in my billiard room! The original Maupin sleeve is waaaay far sweeter than the new ECM cd booklet.

Why I don't need to rely on Trane to love Pharaoh just as much: Blessed Souls, love them both equally.

Agree. Wayne's records pre-67 with BN, were amazing enough (including ETC); Schizophrenia onwards was another realm he tapped into. Evan more brilliant stuff.

Great stuff! I almost think I willed this CD into existence. Way outa print by the time I hipped to it, but I found it years later in a box at a used record store much later. It was meant for me! Arrived today: Nice! Already to start it again.
