You wanna see the Fischer- Spassky showdown, see Pawn Sacrifice; a must see if you really enjoy chess! Tina Brooks' BN records are all worth hearing. Such a short but brilliant career, so glad BN released the rest. Black History month can't go by until you hear the local Cleveland news finally recognizing Albert Ayler, who was one of the last featured Black people showcased here in February. Donald Ayler should be noted too, I met him at CIA during a screening of a doc on the avant guard back in 2003 or so. In my opinion, learning the trumpet so quickly to add to Ayler's sound, shows his devotion to his brother. Not polished by any stretch, but he's there, and the whole Impulse! fiasco lead to both of their demises. Sad. Now playing:
