  1. Meaning to make my way back to Mingus. Meanwhile, Inspired that this title is appearing in the 2026 Tone Poets series, I am spinning this:
  2. Indeed!
  3. This was also a recently released 2cd set by BN
  4. I'm with you on a new Mothership sleeve design. If Mothership looked more like John Patton's Understanding, I'd buy a copy to frame and hang up on the wall for that alone.
  5. Excellent guitarist. Liked him with The Smiths, but when he joined Matt Johnson's The The, that was when I really started to appreciate his talents:
  6. Looks like to me a baddass version of the Backstreet Boys of classical music.
  7. Still editing and playing stuff I haven't heard in awhile. (lols, I should edit me!)
  8. Starting/continuing editing the paper from no reproach, but keep finding great company in music:
  9. Enjoying the McLean Connoisseur days. Scooped 'em all up.
  10. Have and love this set for over 40 years! Now playing:
  11. Same for me.
  12. "Woody Shaw Plays For Lovers" I'd buy it😎
  13. Yep. Tremendous set for all the right reasons. Like Jack very much here too
  14. You described exactly the show I saw last night. I went and got a beer during the "state of America, AI/Siri/robots" talk (apparently, I was the only one anticipating there would be no intermission, as I was the only one in line) and still had time to come back and listen to the rest of it. At times, he was actually pretty funny, for example, a couple came in a little a late, and while being shown their seats, Herbie said to them, "those seats are waiting for you" Another time, after the "overture" and I think Footprints/Actual Proof, etc., some folks were leaving their seats (maybe to go to the bathroom/get a beverage) and Herbie said, "Oh, you had enough?" Hysterical stuff. His energy was incredible, playing Rocket at the end of the concert, with the keytar, he was jamming and bouncing around with the bassist. Blanchard was in top form, and Jaylen played great, great show overall! Very glad to have seem him!
