  1. Just watched "Sophie's Choice" on TMC the other night (1982) and I do not know what to make of it. Weird stuff. Can't believe that Nazi officer at Aushwitz came back and made Sophie make a choice; if she'd never argued her case to him, he may've never came back. Cost her dearly. Terrible. The ending of the movie even worse. One highlight (guess why she won the Oscar) and having taken 6 years of German in both undergrad and graduate research, the German Meyrl Streep spoke (although the accent was hard to detect, but she was acting as a Catholic Polish woman in the movie) was pretty good. And FWIW, you'd know I was an American speaking German...to this day, I still cannot roll my R's.
  2. This is the record that started this thread, right? (I know catalogue numbers were given, but don't know if they match the OJC reissue numbers, and the pic in the parent post seems unavailable) but if so, this is a fantastic record, which I spin often.
  3. Lols. Thought that was a cubby hole.
  4. Looks fantastic! Just looked on Amazon, a good deal of the Tjader Fantasy's are OOP. Like long OOP.
  5. Can't believe my wife is tolerating this record, she's allowing me to keep this on!?! MAL 1-4 are excellent...this would be "MAL-5"? I forgot, maybe this would be "MAL-4".
  6. Never noticed, Vince Guaraldi that short? Yeah, I bought this one in Chicago last year. Glad to have it, but I think this album would do far finer without the strings. Actually, the strings kind of annoy me, and wish they weren't there at all, but its still an enjoyable record nonetheless, if you just channel the strings out. My opinion, of course.
  7. Hat Hut/Hat Art, etc, released some absolutely amazing music. Don't understand this "reissue" program diggin' into the BN, etc., catalogues. I'm not a European lawyer, not knowing European copyright laws, but I guess it's on the grab on the market over there.
  8. Diggin' into my Reckelss Records goodies from Chicago, last year:
  9. Excellent! Should spin this more, really a sleeper of Hill's BN's. Recently aquired this one, fantastic!
  10. The Fontana/Debut labels kind of confuse like the Freedom/Polydor labels later. Happy to find this copy in Chicago too. Believe this is the right sleeve: But reisued by Freedom
  11. Quick search, what does the Debut cover lool like?
  12. Wow this is the original sleeve art, right? Now playing,
  13. Dig this dude so much, and have not had a chance to spin this CD since I bought it in Chicago last year. Putting it on now.
  14. Just an incredible record, from jacket to the music, still blows me away.
  15. Fantastic! Huge Peanuts fan, and Vince Guaraldi defined my upbringing, even though my parents didn't get it at the time. One of my all time favorites:
  16. I want to start the new year with Duke: Excellent!!
  17. Weird, think it's a statue, but maybe his wife, Moci, but not to get to weird about it, she was white, so I don't know. Nenah did say this in the chapter about her dad, where she thought this album sleeve embodied everything about jazz to her; she really dug her dad in shades in this picture...I do too:
  18. Wow. For reals, cool as fluffin' fluf, that record especially you show there, cost an arm and maybe a leg! Meanwhile, I totally forgot I owned this! Like I forgot!?!
  19. I dig. 😁 NP: 'cause Christmas ain't over here yet.
  20. Fantastic news. Over Christmas, we were watching the Charlie Brown Christmas Tales DVD, which included music I never heard before. Great stuff indeed!
  21. Yeah, I've heard of these titles, specifically here, in great praise, I should just by the Milestone boxset. Haha, You mean like this record?
  22. Very good album it is. Great sleeve art too.

Love the sleeve, but think the scattered tracks around I have.
