When this gets settled, can I get to choose between Oscar Peterson & Chris Montez? I think that would be easier! It's the same riff, different keys, and/but both have different publishers. I would leant towards trusting Columbia over Jubilee, but I don't know if I'd lean towards either of the actually writing it, if you know what I mean. Sounds kinda vernacular-y to me, or at the least "in the vernacular"-y.

"Lady Willpower" was pretty creepy too. Lady Willpower, it's now or never Give your love to me and I'll shower Your heart with tenderness endlessly I know you want to see me but you're afraid Of what I might have on my mind One thing you can be sure of I'll take good care of your love If you will let me give you mine Lady Willpower, it's now or never Give your love to me and I'll shower Your heart with tenderness endlessly Did no one ever tell you the facts of life Well there's so much you have to learn And I would gladly teach you If I could only reach you And get your lovin' in return Lady Willpower, it's now or never Give your love to me and I'll shower Your heart with tenderness endlessly Full lyrics to Young Girl: Young girl Get out of my mind My love for you is way out of line Better run, girl You're much too young, girl With all the charms of a woman You've kept the secret of your youth You led me to believe you're old enough To give me Love And now it hurts to know the truth Whoa, oh, oh, young girl Get out of my mind My love for you is way out of line Better run, girl You're much too young, girl Beneath your perfume and make-up You're just a baby in disguise And though you know that it's wrong to be Alone with me That come on look is in your eyes Whoa, oh, oh, young girl Get out of my mind My love for you is way out of line Better run, girl You're much too young, girl So hurry home to your mama I'm sure she wonders where you are Get out of here before I have the time To change my mind 'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far Sticking with creepy here. Maybe not pedophillic (and that's a very generous "maybe not"), just creepy.

Succotash is the way to go if you just want the music. Same record, same mix, and AFAIK, same mastering, just repressed and repackaged to get a piece of the then-current market.

Oh, it very much could have been: Ok, Louis CK commentary removed, start your own thread about it. And then he asked to be deactivated. So, ok. No interest in starting a different conversation, his call, and his wishes were respected. It's all there, except for the Louis CK stuff which was deleted in hopes of steering the thread back on course. And full disclosure - I engaged in the Louis CK talk. But it didn't level off it kept coming and it kept getting worse. So I took it out, all of it, his, mine, and everybody's. Oh, just to be clear - this is not a thread to get all wide open about #MeToo, pro or con. This thread is about Steve Coleman and Maria Grand, more or less specifically. And Gary Puckett, because, you know, that guy is still gigging, and I assume, still singing those songs, ok Boomers! LOL

I'd love to hear a Wayne session that was "too weird"!!!!

Vegan hot dogs are the ultimate disincentive to use the Costlane.

And then they will either be protected by whatever herd immunity that we the vaccinated have enabled, or else they will be easy targets for if/when there's still virus and/or variants buzzing around. Oh well!

Lee Morgan - Complete Live at the Lighthouse
JSngry replied to Mark13's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Same with all those Miles metal spine sets, didn't buy all those to get the OG records, that experience had long ago been had, so not looking for anything other than an "expanded perspective". For people who have to start with these expanded box sets....I can't really speak to that (most of the time), that's an entirely different individual experience. Either way, there's very few box sets that have left me feeling that my appreciation of the music has been diminished. Although sometimes, measured listening is the key. -

It was a really good band, and the OG 2 LP was impactful. I'm not looking to get more impacted by the box, just as I was not looking to get impacted by the earlier set. For stuff like this, I just like to hear people play, these players, hear them play. The impact occurred decades ago. Now it's time to get that post-impact caressing. Rub it in rub it in. -
Ohio got that Vaxolotto or whatever it is, I like that notion. Americans don't always love to get free vaccinations, but love to have a longshot chance at free money for getting vaccinated. Lead the herd!

But you can still get a hot dog on the way out.
