  1. I'm thinking it will be a combination of Yoko Ono, Diamanda Galás, PJ Proby, Billy Eckstine, and Sandy Posey. Or maybe not. Not everybody likes vocals the way I do.
  2. I think the current/new regime (as it's shaping up) is going to be less inclined to do anything that's stylistically "post-1959".
  3. Put me down for December, I guess. But I'll tell you right now, I make no promises that it's going to be a collection of "pleasing" music (or even of music!). Maybe it will, maybe it won't. December's a long time away.
  4. and for me, the feedback even more than the participation. If I get a few people who have really listened to the material and can speak to it specifically (and not necessarily approvingly, just specifically), that's good enough for me.
  5. It should have good sound, it was recorded by RCA and lifted from their vaults. Bill Barron. Bill Barron. Bill Barron. Tell that story, get his brother involved in the annotation, do it now, do it VERY now.
  6. Never mind the movie, the vintage circus footage is worth it. Actually, the direction (Karl Brown) is pretty nice in spots. And for some reason, Anne Nagel appeals to me in some explainable way. But really, it's worth it just to watch a monkey try to play with matches, only to have a little girl help him out and burn down the whole circus.
  7. Laughing all over again. RIP and much love.
  8. He was alive then, so it's an understandable oversight.
  9. Any details on who recorded this in the first place, what the purpose was? Was it done for a label, done on spec by a producer, an artist-produced date, just what, exactly?
  10. Not at all good, but the premise and how it plays out is sooo bizarre that I had to watch all 64 minutes of it.
  11. We don't need a word for this. We already know what it is without a word. Our time would be better spent finding things we don't already know.
  12. Please don't be like her.
  13. This Grinnell record was a private pressing? Apologies if you've recounted before as to how it came to be, but please re-recount?
  14. I have no objections to thorny.
  15. My wish is that this stuff comes to life all over the world and the global population is terrorized by a giant flying disembodied flying Louis Armstrong head chasing everybody all over the place in gleeful anticipation of their imminent demise. If that don't get it done, that's the last best hope for humanity and it will have failed.
  16. You gotta have some place that's nobody's but yours. Got to.
  17. Yean, I first heard it from a Don Menza chart that was circulating among rehearsal bands ca. 1983. Then it was known as "The Red Snapper". I think Buddy Rich recorded it.
  18. It's a Bobby Shew tune that I think was written before this date. I had hear that through several grapevines the title referenced something more, uh.."lascivious"
  19. You carpe diemed!
  20. Ok, have fun with that! Even at that, they were there before, and they've been around since.
