  1. He seems to post directly in the comments section of his performances on youtube a lot.
  2. He is the king of sealed pressings from the sixties.
  3. Does Wayne Shorter really have a lack of 'triadic mastery'? Didn't he make up for it in other 'more relevant for the times' ways back then? These guys and gals (it's probably mostly guys with this kind of consciousness), that have the benefit of a 'very' late twentieth century 'wholistic Jazz Education' are such a bunch of wankers.
  4. Mr PC is good, and Scofield plays some nice lines. But I wouldn't think it's anything beyond 'latter day excellent'.
  5. That bass note at 3:07...seriously? Oh dear http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Finch_(musician)
  6. Very glad to see 'The Project' is ready to go. BTW, I did work out the seven chord rundown in this tune. Just had to take a closer listen after all this time. Dflat7#9 - F7#9 - B7#9 - Eflat7#9 - A7#9 - Dflat7#9 - D7#9 Grant's chords alternate between the 'Chitlin Con Carne' #9 shape, and the 'Hendrix E' #9 shape. That 'Chitlin Con Carne' #9 chord is a nasty sounding chord alright Grant and Kenny and Pat Martino loved using this shape. Lots of grunt! You gentleman better be 'cookin' when you cut this track
  7. I just say (if anybodies listening), 'contemporary'. As in 'contemporary Jazz' or 'contemporary Art'. I got no kick against 'modern Jazz', though
  8. I think this is solarisation, not colour, telling the story on those one above.
  9. Who's the White Bitch in the photo That's Jeanne Moreau (photo taken during the recording session for Louis Malle's 'Ascenseur pour l'Echafaud')... Oh. Another French beauty then.
  10. Yes. Certainly 'the big three' of 'Modernism' were Picasso, Stravinsky and Joyce. The period is often said to start as early as Courbet and the Impressionists and last in varying degrees until the Warhol and Pop Art era. Warhol being seen as the Father of Post-Modernism to a certain extant. I think Robert Hughes 'The Shock Of The New' really documents 'Modernism' well. But I love John Berger's Ways Of Seeing much more! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShV1h85dnkc
  11. Certainly the major tape companies sold some very high quality blank cassette tapes back in the day. I know because one of my band mates at the time had a very expensive pocket tape recorder - that he would buy top of the range quality cassettes for -so as to record our gigs.........and also some very well known visiting US Jazz and Blues men (and women).
  12. Who's the White Bitch in the photo I think she is amazing! Isn't she? She's very beautiful for sure. Is this Juliette Greco by any chance? She said Miles didn't marry her because he didn't want her to have to face the trauma of being a White woman married to a Black man in the USA during the 50's. Then again that could just have been one of Miles, 'Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover'
  13. Who's the White Bitch in the photo
  14. What about 'Horse Tranquiliser'. Wasn't that used to make leaf and tip more potent?
  15. I guess there's Modern with a capital M - and then there's just plain old 'modern' - as in 'Thoroughly Modern Milly'. Oh wait...that's got a capital M too.
  16. Have they done a Dr. John - Van Morrison - Bonnie Raitt album yet.
  17. I don't think there'll be many covers in this category
  18. Need proof? There: ahrrr........crossover artists
  19. And Mr Masuo has a deliciously dirty chordal tone going on underneath the horns. That's the kinda tone you just don't hear anymore. And speaking of 'underneath'.... Q. What's worn underneath the kilt? A. Nothing. It's all in perfect working order.
  20. Public domain quality control????
