  1. I just caught up with the most recent episode of Fringe. ***Spoiler Alert!*** I really like how they ended the episode with Peter in bed with Faux-livia when he gets the call from that lady with the message from the real Olivia saying that she is stuck in the other world. What's Peter going to do now?
  2. Billy Taylor Trio - Warming Up
  3. I think "East of the Sun: The West Coast Sessions" was made up of: -West Coast Jazz -The Steamer -Award Winner -and part of Stan Getz And The Cool Sounds
  4. Saskatchewan - 40
  5. It depends on what you buy. For example, if you bought titles at the $8.98 price point, got the discount, free shipping and the free 6th disc, the average disc price would be just under $6.00 per disc.
  6. Concord is running a music sale from now until 11/28 at Concord music sale!. They're offering 20% off with promo code CMGH1. Shipping is free on orders over $25.00. When you buy 5 titles, you get the 6th free.
  7. All Monk : the Riverside Albums (16-CD) This can be had on Amazon for $73.00 and change.
  8. I was in the mood for some '70's Springsteen and was surprised to find that I only had "Darkness On The Edge Of Town". I'd forgotten that the others were in album form and I'd sold them years ago. Time to remedy that. Greetings From Asbury Park The Wild The Innocent And The E-Street Shuffle Born To Run (30th Anniversary CD/2-DVD)
  9. As of this posting on Amazon/marketplace: Coleman Hawkins Bebop Years (4-CD) $13.08 Elmo Hope Complete Studio Recordings (4-CD) $14.95 Joe Maini Small Group Recordings (4-CD) $20.11 Oscar Peterson Triple Play (3-CD) $5.99 Scott Joplin Complete Piano Music [John Arpin] (4-CD) $9.86
  10. Bill Evans' 6-CD "Turn Out the Stars: Final Village Vanguard Recordings" can currently be had new or like new for less than $40.00 on Amazon/marketplace.
  11. Dark Side Of The Moon
  12. Just perusing Proper's listings on Amazon and had to pick up a little Bud Powell. ($12.30) Tempus Fugue-It (4-CD)
  13. Bud Powell - Tempus Fugue-It (4-CD) I have no Bud Powell in my collection so I thought I'd remedy that. This box set covers Bud from 1944-1950. I'm tripping across too many great deals lately, and spending a bit too much money. I've got to curb the new CD buys for a while, I've posted 5 new buys in the last week.
  14. There are several JSP's that I own and would recommend. Some of them are great but if you like the music of the respective artist, I don't think anyone would be disappointed with any of these: Louis Armstrong - Hot 5's and 7's Jelly Roll Morton 1926-1930 Bix and Tram Louis Jordan and Tympani 5 Classic Early Django Reinhardt Django Reinhardt 2 - Paris and London There are some good buys out there for the box sets from Proper as well. I'd recommend: Coleman Hawkins Bebop Years Tubby Hayes - Little Giant The Fats Navarro Story -and- Charlie Ventura - Bop For The People (Though not as strongly recommended, it is fun/interesting and worth checking out. There are currently several new copies out there now for less than $12.00.)
  15. I'd recommend Coleman Hawkins' 4-Cd "Bebop Years" put out by Proper if you don't already have his stuff from that era. Right now you can get it new for less than $14.00.
  16. That's disappointing, sorry to hear that. I've been there several times most notably when a merchant was selling an outrageously low-priced Monk Complete Riverside Recordings box set and another, Wynton's Village Vanguard box set then cancelled on me. Fortunately, I got the delivery confirmation on the Barclay box yesterday.
  17. Bob Dylan Radio Radio, vol. 3 (4-CD) Bob Dylan Radio Radio, vol. 4 (4-CD) I love these box sets which are made up of the (non-Dylan) music that appeared on Dylan's Sirius Theme Time radio show. (Dylan's commentary from the show is not included.) Supposedly the music that appeared on his show was from selections he made from his own music library. They're filled with an eclectic collection of music that covers a wide spectrum of musical genres. They're perfect to throw on when you're looking for a variety of music that is full of interesting twists, turns and surprises. They're like the ultimate, cool mix tapes you'd make back in the day. I got both for $37.83 which makes it less than $5.00 per disc, well worth the investment.
  18. I'll have to post my impressions once I've had a chance to listen to it and look it over. I'm still waiting for that shipping confirmation!
  19. I bought from ImportCDs. I haven't had any experience with them before but they had a 5-star, 98% positive rating with 1,524,722 lifetime ratings.
  20. For those of you interested in the box set but missed it, I would keep an eye on it at Amazon. The prices seem to be moving around quite a bit. After the $38.95 sets disappeared the next best price for a new one was around $65.00. I just checked it again and a seller is now offering a new set for $56.00. If the price keeps moving, you might find one at a price you like.
  21. This song/sound must have locked in on some fond memory or feeling from your past. I gave it a listen and it does nothing for me though the cheese factor made it worth the listen.
  22. I'm a Baker fan so at about $5 per disc, I couldn't pass it up. On the one hand, with all the alternate/partial takes and short play time on some discs, you could say that this box set is bloated at 8 discs. On the other hand, you could say that it's an interesting and somewhat unique way to present the material by putting each session on a seperate disc. I'm sure the approach probably causes a lot of love/hate reactions. I remember avoiding the 2-disc Lester Young set on Savoy because of all the alternate takes since I already owned the single disc version without them. After picking one up at another can't pass it up price and giving it a listen, the back-to-back alternate takes didn't really bother me and I actually ended up enjoying them. Having said that, the Barclay set comes at a great price at $38.95 but even so, it's still coming near the top range of what I was willing to pay for it. I'm excited about it and I'm looking forward to giving it a listen and checking out the 84-page book. This should be a good one and I highly doubt that I'm going to regret buying it at this price. (Hey, it was cheaper than a Mosaic Select!)
  23. Chet Baker - The Complete Barclay Sessions(8-CD) As of this posting, a marketplace seller on Amazon is selling a new/sealed copy of this box set for $38.95. I grabbed one and they re-listed so they may have several to sell. If you're curious or interested, I'd grab one fast.
  24. Chet Baker - In Paris: The Complete 1955-1956 Barclay Sessions (8-CD) FYI, for anyone who might be interested. This new/sealed box set is available again for $38.95 on Amazon as of the time of this post.
