  2. After yesterday, Eli's got a point! Seriously, though, I think a professional athlete boasting confidence is all part of the game - sort of like the "any given Sunday" meme. Oh yeah? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKNXj4iHNsw
  3. Great stuff. I think I posted this one earlier in the thread, but it's interesting to compare and see just how much "Creation of Sunlight" influenced the sound... It also reminds me of this one by Olivia Tremor Control...
  4. My thoughts exactly. At the old location - which I've been to numerous times - prices were usually $25-30, with lots of free parking. I've no doubt that the Gehry-designed venue will be much nicer (it couldn't not be!), but I'm not so sure it can sustain with the sometimes minimal crowds the Bakery can often get.
  5. I've been using iTunes to stream some jazz radio stations lately. I forgot how much fun it is not to know what song is coming up next, and I enjoy the chance to hear stuff I don't already own. Same here, but with Pandora at work.
  6. Same here. I rarely scroll far enough down the page to even see them here.
  7. Very cool!
  8. Good film! For me, piano lessons and a used Nord organ. And advice to protect against organ transplant rejection.
  9. I've long accepted mp3 (or FLAC) for listening purposes, but I've mostly stopped either burning digital files to CD or ripping CDs to digital files. I figure that I have more than enough music in different formats that I don't need to duplicate it unless I'm making a comp. That is, I can listen to records or CDs or mp3s at home, CDs or cassettes in the car, and CDs or mp3s at work - I don't need to have it all available in each format.
  10. I had no idea. But I can guarantee you they don't ask any religious questions when applying at the Los Angeles outlets. Must be a Texas thing.

  12. That's a very minor difference to me. Basically anything you do on the internet these days gathers your personal info - at least with FB it's only getting what I willingly post/offer them.
  13. Great to hear! I've only been to DC a handful of times, but love the city. It is a great walking town, and between the museums and historical sites it's never dull.
  14. I also hear the new version of Words With Friends will be named after Alec Baldwin.
  15. For a minute there I thought that Chewy started this thread!
  16. Just ordered - thanks!
  17. With Prime you also get access to Amazon's movie streaming service - which is like Netflix.
  18. Pretty amazing!
  19. Wasn't "What's Under Dr. Lonnie's Smith's Turban?" an old David Letterman bit?
  20. Jesus Christ, society is doomed.
  21. Me too, faster,no lock ups and for the most part easier to use once you get used to it than IE. chrome lover, here, for perhaps 2 years. for an even better chrome experience, i suggest downloading chrome's developmental version called canary. i dabble briefly with firefox, explorer, opera, and safari. note that canary runs alongside google chrome; it is not a chrome replacement. google chrome canary Thanks for the Canary tip - downloading it now. I've been using Chrome from the start and love it.
  22. The Atomic Mr Basie (if that's the one you're referring to) is a Roulette album, not a Verve one. D'oh! I meant April in Paris!
  23. Well I have both of the Roulette sets and various Verve discs like Atomic so I can rest easy even if it's sold out.
  24. Moot point now, but how do Count's Verve albums compare with his Roulette work?
  25. If one is so inclined, one doesn't really need a link to find sources for "bootlegs" on either the blogs or on Amazon.
